@AlekYerbury If showing up requires ‘insane preparation’ for some people, maybe that’s because your scene has made it crystal clear that one wrong word, wrong background, or wrong vibe means instant ostracism.
Scotland has some of the best and freshest seafood in the world - salmon, oysters, langoustines, etc, in addition to amazing venison, soft fruits, and oats. 🏴
Britain is the largest exporter of high quality lamb in Europe, mostly from Wales and Cumbria. Think salt marsh lamb, Welsh cawl, Lancashire hotpot. 🏴🏴
This is without mentioning things like over 1,000 varieties of cheese in England alone, or the myriad of sweets/desserts from across the entire Island.
Fresh, good quality ingredients, hearty.
@ObrezObserver Whenever I see Americans slag off our cuisine on this app I instantly just brand them as a philistine and crack on with my day happy as Larry.
@mimikkiki@JamesEisen1891 The Picts were indigenous to north east Scotland. They were there before Jesus christ was crucified.
Them, alongside dal riata gaels all had warrior kings.
It all belongs to me.
My history doesn’t begin at 800 AD.
@mimikkiki@JamesEisen1891 No. YOU are the one that is confused.
Scotland and England is nothing like “Texas and California” at all. Horrifically poor comparison.
@mimikkiki@JamesEisen1891 They are still English, Welsh, Scottish and northern irish though right? A political alliance in the 1700s doesn’t erase ethnic identity does it?
Or does it in your view?
You also didn’t answer my question at all.
Do you call yourself English? Yes or no?
@mimikkiki@JamesEisen1891 Do you accept that what makes a person British is their English, Scottish, Welsh or northern irish heritage or is that too confusing for you also?
@mimikkiki@JamesEisen1891 English people hate it when other Britons have a sense of identity that is different from theirs. I don’t know if it makes them feel inadequate or something but they generally can’t tolerate it for some reason.
@mimikkiki@JamesEisen1891 My Scottishness doesn’t compete with my Britishness, it only enhances it.
The context it was used makes absolute sense.
We are a union.
It’s called the United Kingdom.
Clue is literally in the name.
@EnBlommaiMinFil@johannesmkx It maybe came off kinda rude but it’s not personal, it’s just the truth.
If believing that you were made in gods image makes you sleep better at night then you do you.
It doesn’t help me. Personally, I find the whole concept of monotheism insulting.
