This sentence has no basis in the rule of law and is therefore completely unacceptable. It is still completely unclear how this verdict came about. It is unbelievable how irresponsibly and arbitrarily the Iranian regime treats defendants. It is impossible to recognize the rule of law in the chaos of the courts in charge. I couldn’t sleep at all once I got the news. If you profess to care about Iran, or have said the word Iran ever in your life, they need you to step up now. Beloved dissident rapper Toomaj Salehi, often called “the Tupac of Iran” has been sentenced to death by the regime. You have to understand that the whole of Iran has spent the better part of a year and a half campaigning for his release from prison. Chanting his name at marches in and outside of Iran. To say that Iranians are devastated is an understatement. The charges are false and the entire trial was obstructed by the regime at every turn. And the only thing that will save him is the eyes of the international community.
