What better way to start your Sunday...2 x torpid #dormice in a box. Both females weighing in at 18.5g & 12.5g. The smaller of the two was last seen in October 2021 & weighed 11g. She has moved approximately 180m from her last known location @NottsDormice@PTES
Why did the #dormouse cross the rail track? To get to the other side, clearly... Today, we discovered a #dormouse nest in a nest box on the opposite side of the railway line, confirming that our #dormice are crossing the track & spreading east @PTES@networkrail@NottsBAG

To kick start #dormouseweek here's a photo of my very first #dormouse. This creature was the catalyst to my 10-year #dormouse obsession. Here's hoping the remainder of my year's are filled with many more #dormouse filled days @PTES@NottsDormice
Another brief and largely uneventful visit to Collingham tonight, until a Mole crossed the road in front of me and disappeared into the verge. Possibly only the second time I’ve ever seen a live one… @NottsMammals
It’s good to see the Environment Agency have improved their management of the river banks adjacent to the River Leen in Nottingham. A sign of the success is multiple signs of water vole. I thought they were lost from this site as I haven’t seen a latrine/feeding sign since 2018.
Had the pleasure of the company of these beauties for a few hours last night at @CP_UK_Sherwood Lovely to see this years cubs in the flesh at last. The cubs were oblivious to our presence but the adults kept an eye on us! @NottsMammals@Nottswildlife@BadgerTrust@BBCSpringwatch
Our #dormice are certainly making their mark on the county, slowly dispersing into the wider #landscape. None of which would be possible without the support of our fantastic volunteers, the local landowners & partners such as @Nottswildlife & @PTES https://t.co/vd3DpfgnKP
