Alan Greenspan’s decades of honorable public service grew out of his love of country and commitment to its progress. The arc of his career reflected - and shaped - the story of modern finance. Respected by both parties even when they disagreed with him, he made the @FederalReserve a more transparent and forward-looking institution. From Washington Heights to the heights of Washington, he’s an example of how anything in America is possible.
A group of anti-ICE protesters wants a special counsel appointed to investigate federal prosecutors’ handling of their case, which imploded last month after revelations of misconduct and sparked a crisis of credibility in the Chicago US attorney’s office. https://t.co/5LgAqjxXe3
It began with a routine call at a jewelry store.
But when a Jacksonville officer recognized that something bigger might be unfolding, local police and secret service agents worked together to uncover a broader financial crimes investigation.
This is the kind of partnership the public rarely sees. Public safety depends on this kind of cooperation, but it largely remains behind the scenes.

U.S. authorities have arrested 13 illegal immigrants for the fraudulent use of Social Security Numbers.
Eight of them have been indicted for using stolen SSNs while working at a window supply business in Paducah, Kentucky. Between June 2021 and August 2025, the charged individuals allegedly filed false Form I-9s using U.S. citizens’ numbers to gain employment.
Three are from Mexico, one from Spain, and four from Guatemala. If convicted, each faces up to five years in prison. The arrests were part of an ICE Homeland Security Investigations operation with federal partners.
On June 5, the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network warned financial institutions about risks from illegal immigrants’ employment involving SSN theft. The Department of Justice also announced action against 15 individuals, including 11 illegal immigrants, for fraudulently obtaining government benefits.
In April 2025, President Donald Trump signed a memorandum to prevent illegal immigrants from getting Social Security Act benefits. One case involved a Mexican woman who used a stolen SSN since 1992 to receive over $278,000 in benefits.

@VoteLaughlin@DanBartkowiak Good points on closing the loopholes. How exactly will the Cannabis Control Board stop the Chinese weed from reaching kids?
@RyanPAumentPA@ScottPaterno Sounds like such a fun family tradition! Love that you’ve kept the annual road trip going strong. What was the highlight of this year’s loop?
Enjoyed visiting the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association (PREA) headquarters in Harrisburg to learn more about the electric cooperatives serving rural communities across PA and NJ.
Today, 14 member-owned co-ops provide electricity to more than 238,000 households, businesses, and industries, representing over 600,000 consumers.
I was especially interested in PREA's Coordinated Load Management System (CLMS), which helps keep electricity affordable by shifting energy use from peak-demand periods to lower-demand times through voluntary consumer participation.
Thank you to the PREA team for the warm welcome and for your commitment to reliable, affordable energy in rural America.
