Yesterday morning I had an appointment with a doctor at 11:20 AM.
I live about thirty minutes away.
On the way, I received a call from the front desk. Heavy traffic. The doctor would reach only after an hour, possibly more. They suggested I come later.
I had already started. The morning was planned around this. I decided to continue anyway.
When I reached, two different staff members confirmed the situation and advised me to return later.
I turned around and thought of walking towards the exit.
Exactly at that moment, the doctor walked in.
I later learnt he had parked his vehicle and walked the last two kilometers to reach the hospital on time.
Only in Bangalore can a traffic jam and a two kilometer walk somehow bring two people to the same doorway at the same moment.
This reminded me of a story I read some years ago ; a doctor on the Whitefield side who left his vehicle and ran to reach the hospital in time for a critical surgery.
Much respect to @kumarkenchappa and the team at Manipal Hospitals Hebbal. And to every professional who keeps their commitment when circumstances make it difficult. Bangalore, you never stop surprising me!
