If you do… then the loot economy will never work, wipes will never have the effect they do in Tarkov.

Marathon | Factions System Explained:

There are six different factions, each with unique rewards, skill trees, and stat bonuses you can unlock that last the entire season.

• Arachne - Death cult who tasks you with killing other players.

• Cyberacme - Responsible for the systems that allow people to upload their consciousness into shells. Will task you with retrieving materials to upgrade your shell's durability.

• MIDA - Political party that became a terrorist group. Will task you with destroying things or uploading malware. This name should be familiar to Destiny or OG Marathon players.

• Nucaloric - Company that exists to "feed, clothe, and supply humanity with its most basic needs." Will task you with learning why the original Marathon expedition failed over a century ago.

• Sekiguchi - Responsible for the technology used to create the Runner Shell bodies. Represented by insects whose intentions are unknown.

• Traxus - The richest and most powerful corporation in Marathon. Will task Runners with retrieving specific weapons or mods.

As you rank up the factions, you'll earn rewards along the way, plus the ability to purchase exclusive items.

You're free to do multiple faction quests at any time, it doesn't permanently lock you to one.

The (relative to the first film) sterility and lack of tactility in 2049 was intentional imo - it’s very obviously OUR future, wherein everything “cyberpunk” is actually quite lame, flat, and dreary.

Deckard’s reflection on the past in 2049 pretty much confirms this for me.
