PaintCare has proven to be a successful producer responsibility program for California's excess paint.
I'm thrilled that the Legislature has recognized this by passing my #SB1143 to further its operations. Another big win for our environment, consumers, and local governments.
Extended producer responsibility – ensuring producers, not taxpayers, pay the cost to manage their products at the end-of-life – has long been a focus of my work. Today, the Senate passed #SB1143, which would apply EPR to costly and difficult-to-handle household hazardous waste.
Like wine 🍷? You can now get 💲#CRV for turning in your wine bottles. As California’s largest single-site user of recycled glass, Gallo Glass buys over 20% of the state’s recycled glass, diverting nearly 175,000 tons from landfills yearly. They produce 2.7M bottles a day with a goal of 800 bottles/year. Each Gallo Glass bottle contains up to 75% recycled glass, with all major raw materials sourced within California, from sand and soda ash to limestone and cullet. ♻️ #winebottle @GalloFamily@CalPSC@NSACTION_US #CFEE @ResCoalitionCA@KhaimMorton
Colombo Vaccarezza started as a trash collector in Oakland, later moving to Lodi where he began collecting food waste for pigs in 1927. Today, the Vaccarezza family still own @CalWaste in Galt, CA employing over 200 locals, using a modern fleet of energy-efficient trucks servicing 300-400K homes and 2K commercial businesses in the Sacramento region. Their Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) serves as a regional center processing 80K tons of single-stream recyclables from 10 counties, sorting them into 14 commodities. The bad news is that their blue bin material still has 25% non recyclable material so we need more consumer #education & #Awareness ♻️ @TinaMcKinnor1@JoshHooverCA@ResCoalitionCA@NSACTION_US #CFEE @WasteManagement@CalPSC@WasteConnection@CaRetailers

@Carpet8882424@AsmAguiarCurry@BillDoddCA We disagree - the funds were always intended to go to train the installers on proper installation and tear out and transport to recycling centers so we can maximize collection of recyclable carpet but that never happened under @CarpetRecycle program. #carpet@PaintersUnion
Yesterday, NSAC-sponsored AB 863 by @AsmAguiarCurry & Senator @BillDoddCA passed out of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee w/ a 5-1 vote. It will be heard next in the Senate Appropriations Committee. Show your support today: https://t.co/Lzs3fx2kmB #YesonAB863

With its patented process, “urban miners” New West Gypsum Recycling separates the gypsum core from the paper backing. Gypsum is 100% recyclable and used for new drywall. The paper can be used in animal bedding, card stock, base fertilizer and even mushroom production. They also make briquettes for light weight concrete processes. ♻️ #CFEE #gypsum @NSACTION_US
