A 249–250 on Step 2 CK is considered average in today’s landscape, but for non-US IMGs, it often isn’t enough. Even scores in the 260s are no longer a guarantee. Without strong US clinical experience, meaningful research, and the right mentorship or connections, matching remains an uphill battle.
In contrast, for US-IMGs, AMGs, and DOs, a 250 opens doors across many specialties.
Same score, completely different reality.
Brutal attack on #Christians at #Christmas in #Nigeria🇳🇬. According to certain news outlets, more than a hundred people were killed. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. This massacre must end. Persecuted Christians must receive help.
It’s definitely still possible to match at programs that aren’t classically “friendly” to your applicant status.
If there’s never been an IMG match there, be the first.
If there’s never been a D.O. match there, be the first.
That’s what I did 💯
can I just say how much of an honor it is to actually be able to interview for a specialty you have been dreaming about for so many years and have been working towards. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to do this, so thank you.
