Biology gives women hundreds of eggs. Only a handful need to become children.
What happens beyond that is policy, culture, and choice.
We need better conversations about all three.
South Korea. Japan. Thailand. Singapore.
All once had high birth rates. All broke out of the trap the same way:
โ Invested in girls' education
โ Made family planning accessible and normal
โ Gave women economic agency
A demographic trap: when population grows faster than the economy can create jobs, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.
More people. Same broken systems. Less per person.
That's not destiny. That's a policy failure.
The result?
Nigeria records 7.71 million births per year more than all of Europe combined.
1.7 million graduates enter the job market annually. The economy cannot absorb them. Over 80% of small businesses fail within 2 years.
This is what demographers call a demographic trap.
So why does Nigeria keep "popping kids"?
The drivers are social and structural not biological:
โ Early marriage
โ Low female education
โ Cultural pressure to have large families
โ Son preference
โ Contraceptive prevalence of only 12โ17% among married women
There is zero biological requirement for an egg to be fertilized.
If it isn't, it simply dissolves. This happens every single cycle naturally, automatically, without harm.
Reproduction is a choice. Not a biological obligation.
Women are born with 1โ2 million eggs. By puberty, that drops to 300,000โ400,000.
Over an entire lifetime, only 400โ500 eggs are ever released through ovulation roughly one per month.
The rest? The body reabsorbs them quietly. No fertilization needed.
Communication isnโt about talking more itโs about listening better.
Leaders who listen build trust, spark ideas, and inspire action.

@lorrranadr Hahaha, I totally get that too! Adulting can be a wild ride sometimes ๐ but those little moments of comfort like pizza therapy remind us weโre still standing. Every bounce back counts.
Resilience isn't just surviving the storm, it's coming out stronger, wiser, and more grounded than before. The bounce back is the breakthrough. ๐ช #Resilience#GrowthMindset#KeepGoing
