This is Tim Kennedy before he was shot three times. The sad part? He was fighting alongside the Congolese government, the same government that is killing innocent civilians.

And, by the way, this is making headlines because Tim Kennedy is a well-known UFC fighter. But foreign mercenaries have been operating in the DRC since 2022. Some have died, while others have been captured and sent back to their home countries.

The real question is: Why does it take a high-profile name for the world to pay attention to what has been happening in Congo for years?

This is not the first time Congo has used mercenaries. Look back at the country’s history in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s foreign mercenaries have been involved in Congo’s conflicts for decades.

Even Che Guevara was in the Congo in 1965.
