We are proud to see nuclear energy take its place in New York’s clean energy future. Our contribution towards sensible energy policies was recognised by @CityAndStateNY, as Dietmar Detering, Chair at NNY, was featured in 2026 Who’s Who in Energy.

So when will NYC DSA and their various state legislators embrace the public power abundance pushed by the power authority itself, the governor, and the unions, instead of their irrational NGO-led reaction? Who can talk sense into them? Clearly isn't me.
Our CEO @CarllPerez joined @SenatorBorrello's "Nuclear 101" Forum at SUNY Fredonia this week, alongside @NuclearNY's Scott Cicora and Keith Schue and fellow experts from academia, labor, and finance, to help local leaders understand what advanced nuclear could mean for Dunkirk and Chautauqua County. A forum built on facts, not fear.
In Carl's words:
"Nuclear waste, once understood as minimally used nuclear fuel, proves to be one of this industry's most valuable resources. It is among the most rigorously accounted for substances on earth and still holds the overwhelming majority of its original energy."
In 2021, Riverkeeper said that after closing Indian Point, "natural gas use for electricity generation in New York will continue its declining trend."
Five years later, on July 3 alone, Indian Point would've prevented 49.7 GWh and $90-100M worth of exorbitant peaker generation.
You wouldnt have to say this if Westchester politicians, RFK jr, and Andrew Cuomo hadnt shut down over 2 gigawatts of power at Indian Point
Same rich & powerful interests now blocking a restart
NY has to pay higher power bills and burn more oil (🤦♂️) to meet demand on hot days
"The forum wasn't about convincing anyone to support a particular project," Senator Borrello said. "It was about making sure our local elected officials, manufacturers and other stakeholders understand what advanced nuclear technology actually looks like today.”
Nuclear New York was proud to partner with Senator George Borrello to host a Nuclear 101 Forum for elected officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders in Dunkirk.

The discussion covered advanced reactor technology, workforce development, project financing, nuclear safety, and the opportunities advanced nuclear could bring to Western New York.
🚨@SecretaryWright at @INL celebrating a MONUMENTAL milestone — new nuclear reactors turning on for the first time in decades!
Ahead of America’s 250th Anniversary, this historic event advances @POTUS' aggressive goal for multiple reactors reaching criticality by July 4th.
The initiative establishes a pathway toward developing an 8.4-gigawatt Nuclear Reliability Backbone for delivering reliable, emission-free electricity to millions of New Yorkers.
Yesterday, NNY released a statement applauding Governor Hochul and the NYS Public Service Commission for taking steps towards securing NY’s energy future through launching a Nuclear Reliability Backbone process.

The nuclear renaissance is here.
The DOE, through @DOE_EDF, is greasing the skids for 10 more AP1000s by conditionally committing $17.5 billion for long lead items, like turbines or containment vessels.
Invest today, build tomorrow.
More to come.
In February 2017, a report commissioned by Riverkeeper and NRDC said Indian Point could be replaced with renewable energy with only a 0.2% ratepayer cost increase.
The NRC’s new rule sets fixed caps on licensing fees, enhancing cost predictability for #nuclear projects, lowering applicant fees, and aligning with Executive Order 14300 to improve licensing efficiency. https://t.co/WHzhmVAovN
In a new op-ed, State Sen. Chris Ryan highlights that decades of success from the state's existing nuclear fleet prove that more nuclear energy can help deliver reliable electricity, while supporting local economies, jobs, and affordable energy.

2026 Power Trends Report from @NewYorkISO (on New York’s electric grid) shows:
- risk of power outages is increasing
- half of electricity still comes from fossil fuels
- nuclear & hydro provide the vast *majority* of zero-emission electricity (i.e. NOT solar & wind)
