Let’s be very clear about what’s happening right now…

The federal government is using intimidation and retaliation against private businesses that refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement.

And the Constitution was written specifically to prevent the government from doing exactly this.

In Memphis, a small, locally owned sandwich shop put up a “No ICE Welcome” sign. In response, roughly 50 armed federal agents from multiple agencies surrounded the business, blocked access, and effectively shut it down. No warrant. No cited violations. Just an overwhelming show of force meant to intimidate the owner and send a message.

Then, in Minnesota, when a Hilton-branded hotel canceled reservations for immigration agents, the government didn’t quietly take its business elsewhere. DHS publicly blasted the hotel, accused it of wrongdoing, and treated the cancellation like an attack… despite the fact that the property is privately owned and under no obligation to host federal agents.

This is not about safety. This is not about law enforcement. This is about punishing businesses for saying no.

The Constitution was designed to limit government power, not give it permission to coerce private citizens and businesses.

The First Amendment protects political expression on private property. The Fourth Amendment exists to stop intimidation and force without cause. Businesses aren’t part of the government, and if there’s no law or contract, they don’t have to serve it.

Posting a sign is not a crime.
Canceling a reservation is not a crime.
Refusing service is not a crime.

When the government responds to those actions with armed intimidation or public threats, that is retaliation. It is unconstitutional. And it’s exactly the kind of abuse the founders were trying to prevent.

The same people who scream about free markets and private property are suddenly fine with the government strong-arming businesses, as long as the target is politically convenient.

If the government can surround a mom-and-pop shop over a sign today, and threaten a major hotel chain over a canceled booking tomorrow, then no business is actually free.

That’s not law and order.
That’s a government testing how far it can go when it doesn’t like being told no.

For months, ICE and Border Patrol agents have been firing chemical weapons inches from innocent people’s faces, spraying pepper spray into vehicles, with children inside, as they drive past. Yesterday, that escalation turned deadly: an agent fired his gun at a legal observer as she tried to drive away from an unlawful assault of a U.S. citizen.

This isn’t rare. We have hundreds of videos showing ICE and Border Patrol illegally detaining U.S. citizens, assaulting U.S. citizens, and firing weapons at U.S. citizens.

DHS has lied about every single incident.

Video evidence is the only reason the public knows these abuses are happening. That’s why this administration is trying to label people who film ICE and Border Patrol as “domestic terrorists.”

But, the truth is the opposite: this administration is using ICE and Border Patrol to terrorize U.S. citizens.

Filming ICE and Border Patrol agents is the only thing standing between the truth and total impunity.
