Congratulations to Dr. @KiraScientist who successfully defended her PhD dissertation some days ago. Kira has been a model student and we look forward to seeing more of her brilliant science in the future.
Our student Nick won for his project studying the early stages of type 2 diabetes in the @NunemakerLab. This is the second time a TBS student came in first place after @patriciamora_ou won in 2020!
Congratulations to graduate students from our lab: Nick Whitticar and Ibi Max-Harry @mercy__max who recieved the John Kopchick research Fellowship award for the second time! Many thanks to the Kopchicks @KopchickLab_OU for their continuous support and legacy!
“The Role of C-Terminus and Nuclear Localization Sequence of Parathyroid Hormone-Related Protein in Pancreatic Islet Morphology and Glucose Homeostasis” by @mercy__max is next!!
Kudos to Craig Nunemaker, #HCOM assoc prof, & chemistry prof Stephen Bermeier for their @NIH grant to develop a small molecule therapeutic to treat 2 issues in Type 1 diabetes. @NunemakerLab@Bobcatsdiscover#diabetesresearch
Left to right: Ibi, me, grace and Dr. Craig Nunemaker after our presentations at @DiabetesOhioU symposium @OUHCOM. @NunemakerLab was well represented! It is amazing to work with these great women who are rocking science!
@KiraScientist, a PhD candidate from our lab published some of her results from her project that involved using Synchrotron X-ray fluorescence to visualize metal distributions in pancreatic beta cells with low grade inflammation! Check it out here: https://t.co/TnzDS0WYEC
