Somalia Commemorates 10th Anniversary of Ratifying the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Federal Republic of Somalia today held a high-level commemoration marking the 10th anniversary of the nation's official ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
The event, organized by the Ministry of Family and Human Rights, was presided over by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre. The ceremony was attended by members of the Cabinet, students, educators, civil society representatives, and international partners.
The gathering focused on reviewing the achievements made over the past decade, ensuring child safety, and strengthening collaboration between government agencies and international partners to enhance the welfare and care of Somali children.
In a wide-ranging address, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre underscored the critical role of education in the nation’s existence, stating:
"We recognize that a child without education equates to a country without a future. To ensure our nation’s prosperity, it is fundamental that we create a future for Somali children where they receive quality education and proper upbringing."
The Prime Minister expressed special gratitude to the Minister of Family and Human Rights, H.E. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, for her tireless advocacy and efforts in defending children's rights. He further urged all government institutions, civil society, and international organizations to unite their efforts in protecting and advancing the future of the nation’s children.
Finally, the Ministry of Family and Human Rights reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating policies and programs that improve child welfare, prioritizing their fundamental rights to life, education, healthcare, and security.

157 days. 3 US Gaza ceasefire vetoes at the UN against the will of 153 states and the vast majority of the world's population. US hegemony is the disease; global solidarity is the cure. #FreePalestine
127 children killed per-day in Auschwitz in 5 years.
139 children killed per day in Gaza in 135 days.
Just like there can be no justification for the Holocaust, there can be no justification for the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. Both deserve the same condemnation.
BREAKING: Colombia’s President expresses full solidarity with President Lula of Brazil.
“In Gaza, there is a genocide, and thousands of children and women are cowardly murdered. Lula has only spoken the truth, and the truth must be defended, or barbarism will annihilate us.”
US has again vetoed a UN Security Council Resolution for an immediate Gaza ceasefire.

Biden, Sunak and Starmer have partnered Netanyahu in the slaughter of children. In genocide.
Never ever forgive them.
