Despite all odds, I am proud to have graduated with First Class Honours in Adult and Mental Health Nursing. ππ½ It was a daunting task, coming from a different education system abroad, but by God's grace, I came, saw, and mastered the science of nursing! ππ

Hey X fam, I had my graduation ceremony last week ! π This time last year, I had lost all hope about finishing the program. After 5 years and over Β£15k paid in tuition fees/ year, I am happy that it's ended in praises. Congratulations to me! π

@ifedayo_johnson I am proudly π³π¬ and a First class holder from one of the top schools of nursing here in the UK. It's highly ignorant to say that Nigerians can barely speak English! π
Life is precious. So is dignity in dying. Whether you're a nurse, a family member, or a friend - your presence matters. Have you ever witnessed a "good death" or been with someone in their final days? I'd love to hear your reflections.

3/ But I take comfort in knowing that the patient received the best possible care - right until the very end. Nursing isn't always about curing. Sometimes, itβs about being present, offering dignity, and making sure no one faces the end alone. ππ
Withdrawal of care is one of the hardest aspects of nursing. It challenges everything we are taught about helping people live. Today, I was reminded that nursing is just as much about dignity in dying as it is about saving lives ππ
A small reflection ππ½
2/ It was incredibly difficult for the family, who continued to hope for a 'miracle'. I didnβt feel entirely ready myself to support someone through a good death, especially when so much of nursing is focused on helping people live well.
1/ I cared for a patient whose treatment was being withdrawn after two weeks of admission, following an irreversible brain injury. It was the medical team's opinion that this was in the patient's best interest after all interventions had been exhausted π.
I believe that nurses need to be more self-compassionate. We care so much about our patients that we often neglect to look after ourselves as well. Top tip: take your break on shifts, accept no more than you can handle, and be kind to yourself! #nursing
"Self-compassion isnβt about avoiding hard work or letting yourself off the hook. Itβs about treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a friend in need." https://t.co/8FE0AnEX2F

Despite this, I stay resilient. I remind myself that confidence comes with time and experience πͺπ½π
To my fellow nurses and anyone starting a new role - how did you overcome self-doubt in your career? Letβs talk in the comments! β¬οΈ
Still in my probationary period, Iβm putting in twice the effort - mastering daily tasks, taking feedback, and improving my nursing practice. But critical care is intense, and the knowledge to acquire feels endless π€π€―
