When writers are making a sequel, you *can’t* hide the monster again. The cat’s already out of the bag, so if you want to use the same IP you need to make it a more direct confrontation between protagonist and monster. This is usually done as an action movie, hence the transition

This is actually a pretty common path for American horror films. Alien was followed by Aliens, The Terminator was actually played more like a horror movie at first until T2, Jurassic Park was also played as a horror film but then the franchise went action-y

In the climax of these movies, the monster is revealed. You see the terminator, you see the xenomorph, you see just how dangerous and common the dinosaurs are. At the climax the suspense is shattered into a cathartic release
