Following our partial tour of Bahr el Ghazal (Wau, Kwajok, Aweil, Wanjok, & Nyamlel), we decided that we also needed to extend the #SSYLF’s message of peace, unity and youth empowerment to Equatoria. We came to ththe historic town of Torit.
On Saturday, I was honored to accompany my good friend, Hon. Daniel Rimbasa, Governor of Gbudwe to Nzara where we launched a water point for the community and had the chance to dance some Azande dances. Was so fun! #SSYLF#SouthSudan
The youth of Lol State turned up in large numbers & appreciated our efforts to come all the way to Nyamlel. Many had heard of the SSYLF since the Nairobi Meeting Kigali Convention. They had never thought that the message of the SSYLF would ever physically reach them in Nyamlel.
One woman shared that she had lost her father during the liberation war, and her brother and her husband to the ongoing civil war. Young people are dying in large numbers and politicians are busy looting the country. #SSYLF meeting in #Nyamlel#SouthSudan
Was good to run into His Grace, The Most Rev. Moses Deng Bol, and Rt. Rev. Bishop Abraham Yel Nhial at Juba International Airport as we waited for the return of the body of the late CDF of SPLA, Gen. James Ajongo Mawut. May he Rest In Peace.
In Aweil, #SSYLF acknowledged that #SouthSudan was facing difficulties, but we encouraged the people of Aweil to continue to act like true patriots of this land and to guard the legacy of Aweil sons and daughters who perished in the course of our liberation.
After canceling #SSYLF meeting in Aweil & Wanjok, #SouthSudan, we told the authorities “when you see that a fire is about to break out, you don’t wait until it has broken out and then you scramble to put it out. Instead, you make sure it doesn’t break out in the first place.”
After successful conclusion of Wau visit, #SSYLF team went to Kwajok, where we were warmly received by Gogrial Women Association. They reminded us not to forget about the plight of women as as champion the agenda of youth unity and empowerment in #SouthSudan.
At #SSYLF meeting in Kwajok, Gogrial, youth stated that politicians were the cause of their suffering. They retort, “the only reason why our clan is disrespected is because we lack courageous youth” &/or “had this been during our time, we would have dealt with them seriously.”
At #SSYLF meeting in Gogrial, youth open-heartedly embraced the SSYLF mission of mobilizing, inspiring & organizing youth to realize a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan. They pledged to share SSYLF’s message and become messengers of peace across the state.” #SouthSudan
His Grace, Most Rev. Moses Deng Bol, Archbishop of ECSS Internal Province of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, & Rev. Andrew Apihny sharing scriptures at #SSYLF meeting in Wau: “All males and females are equally created in the image of God. No one is more Godly than another.” #SouthSudan
We kicked off #SSYLF Peace Campaign in Bahr el Ghazal with series of activities in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal. Youth are tired of being used to fight senseless wars. They want to mobilize & organize to bring peace & prosperity to #SouthSudan
Last month, #SSYLF visited Bentiu & conducted peace-related activities targeting youth. We heard their stance to mobilize, inspire & organize themselves to realize a peaceful & prosperous #SouthSudan. We recently took the same message to Bhar el Ghazal. Watch this space 4 updates
We went to Wau to continue our #SSYLF peace campaign.
Three of our SSYLF members in Wau, have been doing a great job preaching peace and distributing food among a deeply divided and insecure state.
The youth opened their hearts and are committed to betterment. #SouthSudan
Had the greatest pleasure of calling on our uncle, Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban, at his home along with the Chair of #SSYLF Youth Dialogue @Ruaydeng. His wisdom is humbling. And his encouragement is energizing! #SouthSudan
Pleased to meet reps of #SSYLF this evening to hear about their vision for the future of South Sudan and efforts to support peace. Hope we can stay in touch. @koitiemmily@AjakPeter
Delighted to attend a football tournament in Bentiu in which teams from PoCs and those within the town competed. Congrats to Governor Monytuil & my friend and compatriot in the #SSYLF Hon. Lam Tungwar and the Interim SSYLF Office in Northern Liech State. #SouthSudan@NxGenSS
Officially launched the #SSYLF Interim Office in Bentiu this morning together with Lam Tungwar, State Minister of Info, Culture, Youth & Sports & Advisor to SSYLF along with State Minister of Education. Young people in the state are excited about the SSYLF vision. #SouthSudan
