The first time I went to a public hospital, I went to Nyeri PGH, straight to the dentistry section, without anyone guiding me. My parents had given me 300 shillings to pay for the extraction because the pain was unbearable. But when I finally got to the dentist, he wasn’t just in a hurry he was the one asking for the money right there, skipping any proper payment process. The room he worked in was ancient it was cramped and looked like one of those Mau Mau prisons , shared with three other people, and the stench was unbearable. The plates and the whole environment everything was decaying. This wasn’t just a personal nightmare; this was the state of the system. And if that was happening back then, when the regime was slightly competent, what does that say now, under a government that is completely failing us? The healthcare system is in the mud, and we cannot stay silent. Everyone must speak up and demand change this is a failure of leadership, and it has to stop.
