Tbh.. I tend to believe it is our fault as well that we agreed to some fishy things. I agreed despite being suspicious because his twitter acts like his portfolio and I liked what I saw. Seeing many of his works and that he had already worked with plenty of people made me disregard my initial suspicions. But this is a lesson learned: you should always listen to your gut, and when in doubt, investigate on your own and look for more feedback from previous clients. Plus, we are talking about a specific proportion of people who do this. There are many more people who take it seriously and are very professional and we should shout out to them more often for the amazing work they do.

I feel you.. It has been either family issues, holidays, sick issues or pc issues that I have been hearing during my time with Sam. I really do hope nothing bad has happened to him but you just can't keep taking on clients if you know you constantly see a pattern of issues....

One thing he told me when I asked why it feels like the rig is poorly done was that he had a bad experience with a client and since then he feels like his work is not worth

I have wished that it wouldn't come to this... Me and Sam parted ways in a "nice" way so to say:
- Hired Sam in 2024 for a slot in 2025 (when he still had 1.5k $ pack)
- Gave art files in December 2024 - January 2025
- Was given same estimated time (1-2 months)
- I get in March first updates (had slot for April but he said was ok to start early)
- Since March I had to contact for updates constantly just to be given a lot of excuses until JULY!!!
- Got test model in July (supposed to be 90% completion according to him)
- The model was a mess... lots of fixed needed and just a very bad job done (I was not pleased at all)
- I made a feedback document with everything that needed to be done/fixed/missed
- September comes and no updates
- I send Sam a message that I have contacted previous clients and found out that he has dragged for far too long on other clients as well and they had a very much similar experience + he works on multiple clients at once... like... a lot of them at once (pls note that I also got feedback from clients that had a good experience hence I didn't want to make anything public as I was thinking he has a very bad year.. could happen)
- I give Sam ultimatum to finish my model in 2 weeks
- Deadline was not met > got the excuse that there are outside circumstances he had to take care of
- I asked for my files as I didn't want to continue the collaboration and that trust was no longer there (I couldn't get my money back because if I did get a refund would be close to nothing and no way to fix my model since he charges for the files)
- Got files
- Had a friend help me try to fix the model but the file was so HORRIBLE ... it would have taken more to re-organize everything than have the model made from scratch
- I lost money and had to pay again for another rig
- I did give Sam a feedback in private to change his work style and take the opportunity since he has no work anymore to do on my model and get himself back in a good position with his clients.

I see nothing has changed since I cut ties with him... I really did hope he would change as he promised me ... He has talent but it is obvious he is lazy or tries to cut a lot of corners + doesn't really take it seriously.
This is just my opinion.... I am really sorry for every of his clients that had such a bad experience... it breaks my heart 💔

I don’t normally do call out posts cause cancel culture can get out of hand; but this is more of a warning. I would never suggest anyone use @/samtsukuyomi for rigging. I wish his clients on VGen were more honest about the lapses in communication. I paid half in Oct for a slot while there was a sale for his services. Work didn’t actually begin until December when the model art was complete. Our guaranteed delivery date was Feb 20. I only just last week got the “finished” model and this is what I received. After asking for a refund he fixed some of the more obvious issues; (like changing outfits making my model nude) but the overlaps on hair styles, missing accessories, and issues with the sleeves and arm toggles are still present. He has again ghosted me. VGen will not refund and claim it can only be initiated by him. Do not use him for rigging.

I am a person who believes in 2nd chances and hoped he would keep his promise to fix things ....
Hope that the clients he still has/had but didn't get to finish, to be able to get refunds.

My experience with @/samtsukuyomi

I originally was not going to go public with this and would have kept it within my community. I also do not like to make callout posts however I believe there are other vtubers that have gone through similar situations or even the same thing I have.

First of all, I have a seen a lot of discourse between rig artists and vtubers starting with Wynterpuppy’s post. I completely understand rig artists protecting their cmo3 files as that is their own unique way of rigging and others having access to it may have nefarious intentions. However, I also believe there needs to be protective measures for clients if there ever comes a time where a rig artist retires or even in cases such as ghosting. We are paying thousands for your services and would be starting at 0 if it comes to the point where our rig artist is nowhere to be found.

However I am not here to tell any of you what to do, I am here to talk about my personal experience since Wynter and I share the same rig artist who has been ghosting not only her but a few others I’ve come in contact with.

I had contacted SamTsukuyomi back in March of 2025, inquiring how long the process would be and was told it would take about 1-2 months along with add ons it’d take a little more time. Around this time, I had already commissioned my model artist Oishur and the art would be finished by June. I took the opportunity to take the August/September slot where I had already made a down payment on March 14 with continued payments for the base 1750 + add ons where everything was paid off by November 6.

He gave me an update on the rig process on July 7 and said he would give me another update by Wednesday night July 16. However, this is the start of a pattern of his that I’ve noticed where he would say he would update you on a specific day and then would be gone. The next time he contacted me was July 26 with an update, however, looking back at the files it seems to be the same files from July 7.

The next update did not come until September 4 and then another a month later at October 4. He would then ghost me for the entirety of November after I completed the payments and did not contact me until November 26 and did not get to test the model until December 3.

To be honest, there were a lot of mistakes on the model which I’ve asked him to fix in that initial test period. However he did not get me another testing until January 1 with my debut already having been set to be on January 12 and I’d had taken my PTO from work as well. After I debuted, there were still mistakes with my model with both light and dark version and its at this point I saw others affected by his work ethic and decided to just buy the cmo3 file from and stop working with him.

Its very frustrating for me and anyone really to work with an artists that makes you feel you are less than as a client. Especially a rig artist that has such a big influence on your model and basically your branding as a vtuber. I will never take offense if you need more time to complete the work however I do need clear and concise communication throughout us working together.

I personally started to resent my model because of the rigging and my close friends know how much I love my design and my model. It really had messed with my mental because I did not see an out and did not want to spend thousands again much less my trust had been broken already. I am fortunate to have found a kind rig artist to have fixed the mistakes Sam had made on my model and I am currently loving and doting on her as much as I can.

Also, please don’t harass anyone especially Sam. I’m not trying to incite any purging but just to share my experience and speak out against unprofessionalism in the space.
