Black history is fascinating. I just love learning about Robert Smalls. He freed himself from slavery, stole a Confederate ship, liberated his wife and kids, fought in 17 battles during the Civil War, bought the plantation he once had to work on, and served 5 terms in Congress
Captain Ibrahim Traoré is the interim president and military leader of Burkina Faso, having seized power during a coup d'état on September 30, 2022...
Captain Ibrahim Traoré stood before his people and broke a silence that has lasted for over a thousand years. He spoke about the Arab slave trade. Not in whispers. Not in academic papers. But out loud, in a televised address, to a nation that is overwhelmingly Muslim.
"The people came, first the Arab-Muslim conquests. That is over a thousand years of slavery in Africa." He did not stop there. He spoke of men castrated so they could not father children. He said the last slave market did not close until 1962, in Medina.
This is not an attack on Islam. Traoré is a Muslim himself. This is an attack on a historical crime that has been buried while the transatlantic slave trade is discussed everywhere. He is saying what the entire continent has been afraid to say: that Africa was enslaved by two systems, and only one of them is allowed to be remembered.
The reaction was immediate. Gulf states were furious. Some Muslim clerics called it Islamophobic. But Traoré was not finished. He also announced that Burkina Faso would recall hundreds of students studying Sharia law in Arab countries, warning that some return with teachings incompatible with national cohesion. He said the state is secular, and no religious law—including Islamic law—will govern it.
Why does this matter? Because the Sahel is burning. Jihadist groups are killing civilians, and the ideology they use to recruit is a distorted version of the same faith that Traoré himself practices. He is not blaming Islam. He is blaming a radicalism that was imported, funded, and spread from outside Africa. By naming the Arab slave trade, he is severing the spiritual authority that foreign clerics have held over African Muslims for centuries.
He asked one question repeatedly during that speech, a question that should be printed on every African schoolbook: "Are we cursed?" His answer is no. Africa is not cursed. Africa was conquered, colonized, and enslaved by two different systems. One from the West, one from the East. And the only way to break the curse is to name it, teach it, and refuse to let it be silenced any longer.

Somewhere in Africa, a whole community is living alongside snakes. They consider snakes as gods and they even have a festival to celebrate the snake god they call Vodu Dangbe. Children wrap the snakes around their necks without fear as part of their tradition.
Dad of the Year!
A Kenyan dad insisted on repairing his daughter’s skirt because she was taking too long to do it. He took the needle and thread and fixed it for her himself. 😅
The most disturbing takeaway from the Epstein files isn't the influence of American-Israeli networks—it's the shocking extent to which children were abused and exploited
That human tragedy is the most horrifying part of the entire case
@LarryMadowo The level of inhumane in this world is very alarming.
Trying to kill a fellow pilot with intent of crashing the plane and kill the people on board is actually worse that being inhuman

France announced that not a single euro of its money will go into aid to Burkina Faso.
Ibrahim Traore was like, we are a much richer nation now, without you aid, than we were in the 63 years of aid.
Take you aid to a place where the sun don't shine.
