#AfricaDay Today we celebrate the strength, diversity, and unstoppable spirit of our continent.
At OAFLAD, we believe Africa's future is built on the resilience of its people and especially its women and girls.
As climate change and conflict reshape lives across the continent, African First Ladies stand united to protect the most vulnerable, advance gender equality, and ensure no woman or girl is left behind.
This Africa Day, let's keep building a continent where every woman and girl can thrive💪🏾

Behind every committed First Lady is a team turning vision into action💪🏾

As technology continues to shape the way children learn, communicate, and understand the world around them, we must ensure that innovation never outpaces protection. The same digital space that opens doors to opportunity can also expose children to harm if we do not act with urgency and responsibility.
Thank you H.E. Dr. Ana Dias Lourenço, First Lady of Angola for joining me in co-authoring the following op-ed. "Women's Leadership Essential to Sustaining Progress Made in Immunization in Africa" https://t.co/08RKZ2wODD via @allafrica
Delighted to be in Lausanne to represent @UNAIDS at the opening of #AFRAVIH2026. Wonderful to be with so many people from the AIDS movement, community, and science. My message highlighted the need for us to end inequalities — in access to innovations, in financing, and in rights — that drive new HIV infections and keep people away from services.

The next generation took the floor—Hiba Khalid Mohammed 🇪🇹, Kerry Mwita Omome 🇰🇪, Angel Babirye 🇺🇬—driving bold dialogue on SRHR, gender equality & youth power. From intergenerational exchange to shared accountability, one message stood out: two generations, one agenda—moving from influence to impact. 💜 #OAFLADatWD26 #WD2026 #ChangeCallsUsHere
🌍OAFLAD is heading to Women Deliver 2026 📣| Melbourne 🇦🇺 | 27–30 April
Our agenda:
🔹 Ending FGM/C & harmful practices
🔹 Financing the end of child marriage in humanitarian settings
🔹 First Ladies & adolescents advancing gender equality
#OAFLADatWD26#WD2026@WomenDeliver
H.E. Mrs Marie Khone Faye, First Lady of Senegal 🇸🇳 , named the urgent challenge:
A persistent gap between political commitments and lived reality — on SRHR, gender-based violence, education and economic opportunity for young people.
Her Excellency continued :
She warned that youth leadership is too often recognised symbolically — rather than structurally embedded in the systems that shape policies and budgets.
Sustainable gender equality cannot be achieved without young people at the heart of the solution.
