CONCENTRATION CAMPS 1899–1902
Concentration Camp Remembrance Day is observed annually in South Africa on 16 June to commemorate the approximately 28,000 to 38,000 Boer women, children, and elderly people, who died in this camps.
South Africa’s unemployment rate just rose to 32.7%.
Youth unemployment is now above 60%. (expanded defn)
Those numbers are staggering.
Sometimes wonder if we’re still trying to solve a 2026 problem with a 1996 economic model.
The global economy is changing fast:
- AI is reshaping work,
- remote work is global,
- digital businesses scale quickly,
- creators become companies,
- small teams can now build massive products.
Meanwhile, many young South Africans are still being told the only path is:
school > CV > job application > hope.
That model alone is probably not enough anymore.
South Africa doesn’t just need more jobs.
We need:
- more builders,
- more digital entrepreneurs,
- more global thinking,
- more access to international markets,
and an environment where small businesses can grow fast without all the red tape.
The future economy may belong to countries that adapt quickest to the digital world.
Not just those with the biggest industries.
"If you were to take a group of people and put them in an impoverished area, they're likely to commit more crimes because they have not been helped in the way that they need to be"
this is literally false
take south africa
post-apartheid, black south africans were given everything: houses, infrastructure, money, and they destroyed it.
crime and corruption exploded, a first-world country with nuclear weapons and a nuclear power plant turned into a third-world country running on coal and with cities controlled by gangs, infrastructure was disassembled and sold for scraps because they couldn't see the value in things like trains, it became "the rape capital of the world"
some afrikaners instead left, went into the middle of fucking nowhere (impoverished would be a euphemism), they went into the desert where there was literally nothing, and built Orania
a few years later it has its own currency, virtually ZERO crime, a functioning economy, great schools etc.
saying "black people commit more crimes because of socioeconomic factors and questioning that is racist" never addresses the cause. poor europeans after the war didn't steal from each other. the cause is something else, and as long as looking for it gets you labelled racist, we will never find a solution.
If you are an unemployed person/youth looking for work in South Africa, I want you to listen to me very carefully, because no politician is going to campaign by telling you the truth.
South Africa's unemployment rate is currently 32.7%
At a sustained 5% annual GDP growth (we've barely achieved 1% for over a decade), reducing it to 20% would likely take 12-18 years.
Read that again.
Read it again.
IF 5% - maybe 12-18 years.
This assumes some translation from growth to jobs, but SA's structural issues create jobless growth. This is why investment doesn't = employment.
Even optimistic models project slow progress.
4% growth barely dents youth unemployment.
Again, Cyril and their policies can't achieve 1%.
The majority of you will NOT SEE employment in your lifetime. I'm sorry to tell you that.
The ANC has stolen your life.
Every dream you ever had.
Wrap your mind around that.
Have a blessed day.

If genders were reversed, it would have been world wide outrage and men would have been jailed.
But females get special privileges in society.
