So I tried ASS for the first time today on my HW3 with FSD 12.5.4, with none other than @chuckcook. Turned out to be quite an adventure. Here's my uncut post.
ASS had to deal with overcast conditions with light spurts of rain, lots of pedestrians, geese🦢, and more geese 🦢🦢. Recommend watching the whole thing. We covered a LOT!!
Verdict: ASS is a profound glimpse into the future IMO. Vision of robot/human harmony and coexistence at it's best if you ask me.
This was sooo much fun Chuck. So stoked for round 2 tomorrow 🫶 (rain gods please take a vaca).

Thank you to @Amy787 for drafting this so well.

We want the combined company focused on building, not bureaucracy.
Tesla has just announced that the Cybertruck will not be sold in Australia or New Zealand.
Tesla is offering these Cybertruck reservation holders one free year of FSD (Supervised) if you order a new Model 3 or Model Y by the end of 2026.
"After careful consideration, plans to produce Cybertruck for Australia and New Zealand have been discontinued. To thank you for your early support, we'd like to offer you a complimentary 1-year FSD (Supervised) subscription when you order a new Tesla Model 3 or Model Y."
There are a lot of thoughts I want to share about @Tesla and @TeslaSI after this recent earnings call.
Ashok @aelluswamy once again was the steady voice if you knew how to listen to what he said. Phil Duan @pduan has said the same things to me recently at the Cybercab Launch and other events. Listen carefully to what they say.
FSD v15 with the huge increase in parameter count is the current plan and new bench mark they are betting on for functionality improvement. There is a set of new functions they are talking about that will be introduced in this new version that they hope will enable unsupervised at scale within the geofenced areas. It was mentioned in the earnings call as, additional opertating hours, high speed roads, and marginal weather conditionss.
Ashok spoke specifically about one of the biggest new functionalities. New mapping and navigation learning behavior that will remove the dependency on third party maps. This is huge, and hopefully works well as navigation, lane selection, and poorly mapped speed zones, school zones, and local mapping details are a pain point on the current implementation.
We have been here before, v12 solved, v13 solved, v14 solved, .. etc. I will be the first one to say.. this problem is never solved. We will never be happy with a single version and say its done. So take that mindset and throw it away. It is always an incremental improvement to continue and solve the unsupervised driving problem.
Without at doubt, I have the most confidence in the leadership and members of the @TeslaSI team to be the leaders in solving this problem. I would argue that members of this team will probably be poached and asked to lead new teams at other companies and fork this technology into other versions. I hope this happens, both for the individuals and for the benefits it will ultimately bring to all of us driving the vehicles
Bravo Zulu to the @TeslaSI team, I support each of you.
@robotaxi since this wasn't covered on the earnings call. Can we have additional detail on when this coming soon for these new cities might happen? Are we waiting on FSD v15? Or is this imminent? Or year end or what?
Coming soon is a bit vague for @TeslaSI. We have seen "Add Pothole Avoidance and Expand reasoning to all behaviors beyond destination handling" for months now in the release notes.

BREAKING: US Ambassador to South Africa Leo Bozell slams the government for blocking Starlink’s offer of free internet for 5,000 schools.
“Everyone would agree that Starlink is a great idea for South Africa. Starlink is a great idea in every single nation on earth because of what it’s been able to do. … The government said, we want 30% of that company here, which of course is preposterous. And Elon Musk is never going to do that. … They said, no, we want 30% of your company. So he said, go pound sand. I’ll go in every other country on planet earth.”
Chronicles of Grok Bot:
After my bot edited my FSD video, I had it write an X Article on how the edit came together. It pulled matching frames from v1 through v4 and built the whole draft inside my X account, with the cover, headings and images in place. I read it over and hit publish myself.
My prompt: "Write an X Article about [project] using my notes and files. Add images where they help, build it as a draft in my X account, and don't publish."
Elon Musk on Optimus:
“I remain convinced that Optimus will be the biggest product on earth and humanoid robots in general will be the biggest product on earth. There is no one that is even close to Tesla with respect to a general purpose humanoid robot.
We’ve started like what I’d call early production on our high volume line in Fremont. Now I want to elaborate on this point because and I’ve said this before that the growth of Optimus, it’s an S-curve but the initial part of the S-curve has a shallow slope and is somewhat bumpy because it is such a radically new product.
So the way to think about it is there’s like 10,000 things that have to go right for production of the robot and it’ll move as fast as the slowest least likely of the 10,000. But we do have the vast majority of a million unit production line landed in Fremont right now.”
ELON MUSK: Cybercab fleet surged 10× in Austin in about a month.
“I don’t think there’s any company in the world that can match our scale with autonomous vehicles as we continue to ramp. It really is an extremely fast week-over-week growth in autonomous miles. When I look at the weekly chart, it’s wow. I mean it looks like a rocket going to orbit basically.”
