This is how power has always maintained itself. The weak were taught to glorify their own weakness, to see dignity, strength, and wealth as corrupt or evil simply because they could not reach them. And in that mental prison, resistance was suffocated.

The Roman Empire did this with its slaves. The feudal lords did this with the serfs. Even in modern forms of labor, you see the same logic: accept hardship now, the reward comes later. It is a strategy of ruling classes everywhere, transforming the natural human desire for justice, prosperity, and freedom into passive waiting for a promised afterlife.

But Islam never meant that poverty is a virtue, nor that submission to tyranny is piety. Tawheed is not about letting oppressors enjoy this world while believers wait for the next. Tawheed is about refusing to bow to anything other than Allah, whether it be idols, wealth, or tyrants. It is liberation, not sedation.

To strip Muslims of the will to seek dignity in this life under the pretext of spirituality is not religion, it is distortion. Being Muslim does not mean choosing poverty. It does not mean lowering your head while oppressors build palaces. It means living with honor, striving for justice, and knowing that the akhirah is indeed real but that does not erase your duty to stand upright in the dunya.
