I enjoy leading domino toppling events for the Maryland Science Center, and mentoring for "SilverSat," a STEM space program.

SilverSat has now fallen below 350 km perigee, so we have stopped taking new pictures. We will continue to tweet and transmit SSDV using the onboard images.
Lately I've not been tweeting about dominoes, but rather a little Satellite, SilverSat. Built by a STEM group of middle / high schoolers, it was launched in Dec. 2025, and it works! Taking pictures of earth and tweeting them. I've posted one here. More to come.
Our first recognizable image of Earth from orbit! Shoutout to Doug K8DP, an amateur radio operator in Michigan, who caught this on slow speed digital video download. The #cubesat is still not ready to tweet from orbit but we're getting there!
The SilverSat is in orbit! Released from the International Space Station Dec. 2. The SilverSat kids have already made 1st contact from their ground station at the Goddard amateur radio club.
I've been volunteering as a mentor for "SilverSat" for the past few years. Tomorrow is the big day, this little satellite will be released into orbit and ready to tweet. For more information, see https://t.co/ZaPfj3wEZw
We have liftoff! SilverSat is officially in space, after more than eight years of student-led work. Follow us here to see images tweeted from space and visit https://t.co/HmwGy0INAb to request a picture from orbit. We hope to be released into orbit from the @Space_Station in Nov!
"One of the big challenges in education is getting kids interested in STEM subjects and sustaining interest throughout middle & high school...That’s where @SilverSatorg, a student-built CubeSat comes in." Thanks @techsavvymama for sharing our story on MSN! https://t.co/ZpWvtzHKBe
See the very first Maryland Science Center Domino Drop! This is how we got started in 2011. Just as much fun now as it was then.
