Director, @DevineCarama runs the Violence reduction initiative out of Mayor Linda Gorton's office. Our mission is to keep Lexington, KY neighborhoods safer.
Showing love to West End earlier this week. @one_lexington and its community partners met with families reeling after this weekend’s events. We were able to connect families to relocation, mental health, mediation, porpety repair, faith-based groups, mentoring, and other services
I'm so proud of our @one_lexington team for great work with our youth and those affected by gun violence. They're literally “hitting the streets” to support our community & provide them resources they need. Last night they visited the East End Neighborhood. 📷: Femi Branded (1/3)
According to the Mount Vernon Fire Department, both I-75 north and southbound lanes near Exit 49 and South Wilderness are shut down to an "ongoing emergency situation." https://t.co/p5q2ZpWnJx
Today, @GovAndyBeshear gave @one_lexington $500,000 through his #EverybodyCounts program. We will utilize this funding to expand our #BeTheChange scholarship program, provide skills scholarships for underserved students, & cover cost of students & families affected by gun violence! https://t.co/aa13730VdC
From @KET's Kentucky Edition: Lexington's @MayorGorton announced 15 grassroots non-profits will receive $100,000 in funding through the @one_lexington gun violence prevention program. https://t.co/GA2qtRCEQP
The unique thing about this job is that one day you may have to be at Charles Young Park in East End leading a rap cypher with teenagers, and then the very next day throw on a suit and appear at a press conference to announce the recipients of @one_lexington Violence Prevention Grants. It’s the duality of this work that can’t be rehearsed. My mom said one of the greatest compliments she ever received as a parent was when my first grade teacher, Mrs. Thompson, told her how “well balanced” I was.. I never understood what that meant until I got older. Authentically speaking in different spaces with the same goal in mind. To God be the glory.
We continue to make progress in reducing gun violence among young people, but there is more work to do. @one_lexington is once again reaching out to community partners, offering grants to organizations that work to help reduce gun violence. (1/2)
My new book is 149 pages. Over 100 verses & over 1,500 bars, written over a 28 year time span... I chronicle my introduction to hip hop, my writing techniques, marketing process, and much more. I can’t wait until the 24th! ✍🏾📖
So crazy how God works.. @GMA reached out to me several weeks ago about a video of mine that went viral. The video was a clip from one of @ONE_Lexington’s weekly mentoring sessions at TCES (@FCPSKY) where I was talking to the boys about emotional intelligence and not allowing their emotions to bottle up and overflow.. Shortly after that, #GMA reached back out again after doing some research on me, and said they wanted to do a deeper story focusing on my battles with trauma and mental health and how I use my personal experiences to inspire youth across the country who are fighting their own battles. Today the story went live and could air on TV this week. Well, here it is... Whew... I broke down watching this. I'm done asking God, "Why me?" and I'm just allowing Him to use me however He sees fit.

I'm so grateful to the students and staff of @FCPSKY Paul Laurence Dunbar High School for inviting me to speak to 1,000 stu today on what being a community leader looks like in today's divisive social climate. Being yourself, believing in something bigger than yourself, (1/3)
The symposium gives our @one_lexington team and community members a chance to identify what’s working, talk about service gaps, and pinpoint what can be done better. I’m proud of our One Lexington team and the hard, effective work that's been done these past several years. (3/3)
