@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA You sure make a lot of dumb assumptions and do a lot of finger pointing. Maybe if you were "just a dev" it would improve things. Until then, keep ignoring compatibility and the fact that Drupal users are on unsupported, end of life code. I'm sure that bodes well for the future.
@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA I'm talking to you not because I'm a troll, but because you're out of touch. 30% of Drupal sites are still on 7. This isn't because we like waking up to our sites covered in porn images. It's because Drupal core is a mismanaged hunk of shit and we're stuck on bad tech.
@LucolesLTDA@EclipseGc Hundreds of thousands of sites cannot move forward because the churn of the system exceeds the ability of the third party ecosystem to maintain plugin compatibility. Bad design, bad management, bad code. You're up to version 11 and you still can't generate a list of URLs served.
@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA If anyone in "the community" wants to export their Drupal 7 database and run some C# code over it that generates a sitemap.xml that has more than just the home page listed, so that the work of hundreds of volunteers isn't buried on page 45 of Google results, DM me.
@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA Psst... it's 2026. Open source hasn't saved the world. Mostly because of people like you who believe they've done so much... and if those pesky freeloaders would just become familiar with a quirky community and a 20 year old shit code base, everything would Just Work.
@LucolesLTDA@EclipseGc But if Drupal 1-6 sucked, half the world is stuck on 7, 8 was a mess, and now we're up to 11. Security holes you can drive a truck through, can't update PHP without breaking plugins written by one and two person shops. It's a classic problem. You haven't solved it.
@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA 8 years of watching Drupal not get better. Consistently see the dumbest organizations I work with using it, desperate to get off it. Yes, I reverse engineered the database and wrote my own sitemap file. Your attitude and your tech sucks. This itself is a data point.
@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA Again, not angry. You seem defensive. The Drupal database schema is itself half the problem. And "free" is no excuse for shit quality and awful architecture. Outsiders and open source can't fix that, and you know it. Hundreds of bugs in a core function across 5 major revisions!
@EclipseGc@LucolesLTDA Not angry. Inherited a site built with half-assed plugins and no path forward. Evaluated the overall ecosystem and found it to be total shit. You know this. Stating that a CMS cannot generate a list of its own URLs may prevent others from falling into the Drupal pit.
@LucolesLTDA@EclipseGc Matt's a jackass and Drupal is a mess. There are hundreds of bugs and over 1,200 people reporting problems with the Drupal sitemap plugin. Sitemap! Rewrote core? Congrats. Now go fix the dependencies and usability.
@textfiles Have you worked in Hollywood? Or a game company? Countless turds have shipped with fantastic, loving details in one area. Budget and energy and time run out at the end, not in the planning/honeymoon phase.
@textfiles That's typical Hollywood pre-production masturbation, though. Even small budget fare at the Hallmark Channel finds room for that stuff. Morale budget is cheaper than paying artists what they're actually worth.
@dancohen Here's a link to an archival service that allows people to read this paywalled article against the wishes of the publisher, likely with unspoken support of the author. Who should solve that first, then opine on others. https://t.co/y8kI5tYYP0
