That said, if we trot out the same ridiculously vanilla offense we have been since 2021 - we will fizzle out in the playoffs
We've also got to get much more intentional about who's on the floor together. Going all starters to all bench with our roster makeup is frankly stupid
Now that the roster is finalised - all in all a great outcome
Using the NT MLE and still managing to retain Moe without a trade is top work
Caleb is an unfortunate casualty, but I'm a believer in Jett - people are too impatient
Not the most inspiring list of teams Prunty coached after Pop
Avery Johnson Mavericks
Nate McMillan Blazers
Byron Scott Cavs (with Mose)
Jason Kidd Nets/Bucks
Igor Kokoskov Suns
Nate McMillan Hawks
Adrian Griffin Bucks
Doc Rivers Bucks
Was hoping he'd coached under Budenholzer
I'm told the Bucks' Joe Prunty has emerged as a strong candidate to join Orlando's coaching staff.
Prunty has been interim HC in Atlanta and Milwaukee and worked for five other teams after starting out in San Antonio as @SInow illustrated below.

Kind of a contrarian take but I'm feeling that in the new CBA, rookie scale deals aren't so cheap
You weigh against the prospect of hitting on an All-Star, but the salaries of the middle class established players have been compressed so much, and you know what you are getting
@zerojuantwo3 I'm a bit confused by your screenshot - JI is making a lower proportion of the cap each year so he's not outpacing the cap
Wendell is in his final year - but so will basically everyone with the standard 8% raises who signed a multi-year deal
This is true…
Anyone paying attention to the business of basketball sees major issues:
1. Ratings down
2. Many franchises up for sell
3. Salary cap only going up 7% instead of the expected 10
4. Players losing almost 10% if their salary that was held in escrow
Lots of red flags
@jespvaag He is the only holdover from Clifford's staff (and so wasn't handpicked by Mose) and typically going from G-League head coach to NBA assistant coach IS the promotion - going the reverse is atypical
Makes you wonder if he's being groomed for the big job by the FO like Daigneault
@da_nyce1@SixthManShow Don't think we have enough for Mo - that 7m also has to pay for Penda, let alone Caleb
Using the non-tax MLE for Tyus basically guaranteed we are going to move someone to shed salary
@pfivejett Also gives us the ability to generate big/small mismatches. You can just switch a Franz/Paolo PNR, but gets dicey with a Des/Franz or Des/Paolo
@jespvaag I just hope they don't try another team controlled 1+1, I imagine going through free agency uncertainty every year gets old very fast
Even if he signs now, when he gets healthy again he's not going to suddenly forget
We can't keep Moe AND use the NTMLE - in the new CBA, using it hard caps us at the first apron
"it would leave the Magic with just $15.7 million before the first apron to sign second-round pick Noah Penda, Moe Wagner and Caleb Houstan along with Nickeil Alexander-Walker." - OMD
The player who made the biggest jump for me while doing a big deep dive and draft guide profile so far might be Danny Wolf.
One stat: Michigan is 20 points per 100 better with Wolf on-court versus off. That's 10 points per 100 better than Michigan's next best rotation player.
Those tears today were tears of JOY
Tears for that 10 year old that said he was going to be the #1 pick in the NBA draft! Tears for the 18 year old kid that was handed the keys to a franchise and a city. Tears for the ups & downs on this long journey I had in the NBA. Everything comes full circle and I want to thank the Magic again for inducting me into the Orlando Magic HOF 💙
Free agent guard Markelle Fultz has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agent Raymond Brothers of I AM Sports & Entertainment told ESPN. Kings have searched to find a point guard – and land a deal with the former No. 1 overall pick.
