An hour ago, I placed another chest tube in a COVID-19 patient who developed tension pneumothorax. He was diagnosed 7 weeks ago and has already tracheostomy and PEG. In our hospital's electronic health records, he is not even listed as a COVID patient... 🤦‍♂️

Jan 25. NRGH Emergency room is in "gridlock." Patients are in hallways and there's no stretcher space or monitoring space available. ICU is at capacity HAU full. Medicine units at 147% capacity. Outbreaks on floor 5 and 4. 18 Covid cases. 4 in vents.

Sorry to interrupt your morning but I have to tell you that 3 of my colleagues worked 16hrs last night as no nurse showed up to replace them. As you know, nurses are taught not to "abandon" patients. They had 1 code blue, no breaks, will be back for another shift tonight.

-find your own booster
-find your own rapid tests & PCR
-do your own contact tracing
-determine optimal isolation length
-figure out which masks to buy & where

informed by a physician colleague today a HCW showing up to work @ vaccine clinic in BC with fit tested N95.

HCW was told they can’t wear N95 so they left.

colleague had his N95 on under an “authority approved” mask and worked his shift.
