At a time when we should be encouraging & supporting new teachers, Ford put up roadblocks.

Highlight: a justice sought clarification on the MPT pedagogy part. The pedagogy section doesn't test math pedagogy? No. It's material from two govt publications and 3 questions about math teaching. She said, a PhD in math can't necessarily teach math. You need to show pedagogy!

They removed the report. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

29.7% MPT failure rate for Black teacher candidates; 9.5% failure rate for white teacher candidates.

3:1 ratio.

Was the MPT designed well for everyone or just some?

26% of the Ontario student population is racialized. But only 13% of teachers are from racialized groups. Students from racialized groups do better academically when their teachers are racialized. A less diverse teaching population limits academic success for racialized students.
