As of August 11, 2025, New Brunswick has around 300 first responders, including 150 out-of-province firefighters, assigned to forest fires, while the province's total first responder capacity is approximately 2,500. Medical first responders, such as paramedics and EMS teams, are not typically assigned to forest fire duties and remain available to handle medical emergencies, including those in parks. The risk of diverting a small number of first responders from fire duties to address a medical emergency is minimal due to the broader capacity and specialized roles of medical teams.
