A student-organized movement to support Ohio University’s professors, faculty, & AFSCME 1699. Help us stop layoffs now! (not affiliated with Ohio University)
Hey! We’ve set up a fundraiser to launch an independent nonprofit newspaper in Athens County. Got some good folks on board. Help us make it happen! https://t.co/K5mGNcVNNX
This is an absolute disgrace. An administrative flip-flop of this kind just proves that the people in charge do not care about the health and safety of their staff, faculty, students, OR the greater Athens community.
Yet another reason to be ashamed of my alma mater.
Today, @OHIO_President announced all OHIO students, faculty and staff at all locations are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 15, 2021.
For vaccines that require two doses, both doses must be completed by this date. https://t.co/L4556IYRDv
Juneteenth must be more than a symbol.

Wanting to defund a program that not only helps to draw in thousands of student and company dollars right now, but ALSO secures future enrollment by garnering national interest in attending @scrippsjschool is such a classic Ohio University move
This tells us what we already knew— OU’s administrators (looking at you, BoT) don’t give a damn about the well-being and growth of students.
We need to clean house and hire personnel who are committed to our professional and personal development.

two of my favorite professors i have ever had are being laid off. this is so sad and disgusting. @ohiou needs to prioritize what is actually important: their students’ education.
i have no words. i am embarrassed and ashamed, this woman deserves so much more than OU can offer her anymore anyway. someone get this administration faculty out of here, we don’t want them anymore.
One of my favorite professors I’ve ever had. I used to recommend OU to everyone, and now I wouldn’t want anyone coming here. This university needs major change.
Very disappointing news. As a former colleague, I know Becca as a dedicated teacher who has influenced the lives of so many OU students. Devastating loss to the students and the department.
It’s with the heaviest heart that, with Professor Collins’ permission, I inform you all that her appeal to stay at OU was officially denied by Nellis and a Faculty Senate committee. Her last day teaching is August 15th.
What an odious administration we have.
BREAKING: this June, Duane Nellis is stepping down as President of OU to return to teaching.
This is a victory, as we can now explore options for more suitable leadership and perhaps reclaim the reputation for greatness that OHIO has become distant from in the past few years.
i preached it when OU announced her non-renewal last year and i’ll preach it again- Becca is hands down one of the best professors i’ve ever had and OU is a JOKE for cutting the staff that they’re cutting. what an embarrassment. how can you do this to someone who has poured so
