SIT DOWN AND BUILD SOMETHING

I love pastors as I am one of them and I would like to see all of them do well. Some have done very well but many are struggling.

When we bought our church in London in 2011, the first pastor to preach in the building was Pastor William Kumuyi of Deeper Life Christian Ministry Worldwide. He preached for 3 days. What a grace! I then asked him why he was not taking many invitations to speak in churches around the world.

He responded openly that he will only give account to God for what he did in Deeper Life and that was why he concentrated on building his ministry. He referred to Genesis 26 by saying Isaac sowed in the land and reaped a hundredfold. He said when you concentrate on your ministry rather than running around, you will reap a hundredfold.

He also said he goes where his grace will not be wasted. He said, “Am I not in Winners Kingdom now”? We all laughed. So, as a pastor, go to where your grace will not be wasted and build your ministry.

Second, I started Winners Kingdom with my wife on 1 August 2004. By 2006, I was already being invited to the United States of America to preach. I was in Baltimore, Denver, Colorado Springs, Florida and Maryland to say a few. They were always picking me up with limousines and lodging me in a 5-star hotel. The honour was unbelievable. The enjoyment was crazy.

On one of those trips, I was on my way back from America and concluded that I was living a false life. Our church was using a primary school hall with no camaraderie of glory and I was being ferried with a limousine in America. I concluded that if they were to visit me in London, they will not respect me again. I decided not to honour any invitation again until I build something I can be proud of. So, by God’s grace, I pushed to get a church building which is a big deal in this part of the world.

I wanted to bring my late friend Dr Myles Munroe to preach for us before we bought the building but I cancelled it. Why? Many pastors have used their building funds to host guest speakers that they could not afford thereby pedestrianizing their ministry. Do what you can afford and do not play to the gallery.

From 2011 until December 2016 when we finished paying the mortgage of the church, I refused to take any invitation to preach for any church globally. I only preached at Daystar Christian Centre and Global Harvest Church both in Lagos. Why? I was building something.

Some of you reading this are busy running from conference to conference, receiving anointing upon anointing but please, when are you going to sit down and build something? If they are hosting you everywhere, there is something in your life. Use it to build something for generations to come. You can do it!

The anointed men you are running to sat down and sowed in their lands like Isaac and Pastor William Kumuyi.

It is time for you to implement all you have learnt in all the conferences you have attended. Sit down and build something.
