I don’t like the general attitude on this project. Many questions remain unanswered.
1. Who are the investors? We just watched Museveni decline to invest in, despite being mentioned as one?
2. Is there an offtake agreement with GoK that limits Kenya’s free-market choices?
3. Why did this not go through Parliament?
4. Why was there no public participation.
This project may face many legal challenges due to political bulldozing.

In 2017, the oldest Gen Z was 20 years old and only about 2.4m were eligible to vote, still mostly under their parents’ care.
In 2022, the oldest Gen Z was 25, weaning away from their parents’ care; they were about 7.5M eligible voters.
In 2027, the oldest Gen Z will be 30, with an estimated 14.8M eligible voters. 60% of them are independently fending for themselves and feel the pinch of this economy the most.
So, to say that Gen Z votes will be inconsequential in 2027 demonstrates a lack of basic awareness.

Great piece of history on customary jurisprudence. Some corrections: Richard Otieno Kwach, father of the late radio mogul Edward Kwach, was the lawyer representing the Luo clan in that case. High Court Judge Bosire ruled in favour of the Luo clan. The appeals court dismissed Wambui’s appeal. However, things have changed since then; the 2010 Constitution focuses more on individual rights and limits collective and customary laws.
