הרבה פעמים שואלות ושואלים אותי מה זה בעצם המושג הזה שאני משתמשת בו - ״תרבות האונס״, ואיך היא בכלל באה לידי ביטוי ביומיום שלנו במקומות שהם לא הסמטה החשוכה.
ולדעתי הרביעייה הזו היא דוגמה חיה ומושלמת.

Many many years ago, I learnt Hebrew out of curiosity, and in a bid to penetrate into a world that I once thought was evil and conspiring against Arabs and Muslims. Once in, I was surprised how wrong I was, how wrong almost every Arab and Muslim around me was.
These days, I watch Hebrew networks (and Arabic ones). There is a lot of Israeli pain over those who were killed on 10/7, agony of those who survived, and anxiety over those who are held hostage by Hamas. A lot of tears, now mixing with tears over fallen soldiers fighting in Gaza.
The thing about all this Israeli pain is that it is almost exclusively in Hebrew. The world does not see Israelis hurt, does not hear them cry. The world sees Israel as fighter jets raining death to punish those who killed them from 15000 feet above ground. The world only sees and hears pain coming from Gaza, and the world always takes the side of the underdog, even when the underdog is guilty. One billion Muslims certainly have a much louder voice than 20 million Jews, and the world will always blame Israel, even when Palestinians started the carnage.
And that's exactly why Israelis are fighting the fight of their lives. They understand that the world is an unfair place, and that they cannot rely on non-existent international justice or biased global opinion.
I wish I had a magic wand to make fellow Arabs, and the rest of the world, see what I see. There will never be peace without justice, and using our numbers (Muslims) to impose our narrative is one way to try to beat Israel, but not the way to peace. My voice will dissent. I want peace, and peace is incumbent on winning the trust of those we want to live in peace with, not keeping on instigating the world against them.

חבר קרוב שכבר חודש במילואים כתב לי הלילה, תקראו כי בסוף יש בקשה חשובה ביותר להתמודדות עם מאות אלפי מילואימניקים/ות שנמצאים בחזית.

לא נגעתי:
"אחי, זורק פה מחשבה מכיוון אחר על היום שאחרי... מאות אלפי מילואימניקים ומילואימניקיות יחזרו יום אחד הביתה אחרי חודשיים? שלושה? ארבעה? חלקם מעזה, חלקם מהצפון, כולם, כולל כולם עזבו הכל על מלא מלא למשך התקופה הזאת ופתאום יצטרכו לחזור מחדש להיות יותר אזרחים ופחות חיילים.

הם חייבים, ממש חייבים זמן לנשום רגע לפני החזרה המיידית לשגרה.
הם חייבים לנשום את הילדים שלהם, את בני ובנות הזוג, הם חייבים להתרגל מחדש לנסות לישון בשקט בלילה, הם חייבים לטעום שוב את הקפה או הבירה השכונתיים, הם חייבים רגע לעצמם.

ואחי, המדינה חייבת לתת להם את זה. לכן עוד היום צריך להתחיל לקבל החלטות על מפתח מילואים שיאפשר לכל אחד ואחת לחזור בדרכו לשגרה ולדאוג למימון מהמדינה שהמעסיק שלו לא נפגע מכך - מכאן הצעתי שעל כל חודש מילואים יינתן שבוע ימ"מ נוסף.
חייבים לדאוג לזה ולא להיזכר ברגע האחרון."

לדעתי זו הצעה סופר חשובה ומוצדקת. מקווה שיהיו מי שירימו את הכפפה הזאת.

A fact that goes missed:
In the Palestinian state in Gaza there was no Israeli “occupation” whatsoever.

Not one inch.
Not one Israeli soldier or civilian.

In 2005 Israel officially left the entire Gaza Strip to the very last inch.

We pulled out ALL Israelis and ALL IDF soldiers.

We pulled back to the 1949 borders.

At first, we applied no blockade or siege.

We handed the keys over to the Palestinian authority.

At that point they had an opportunity to turn Gaza into an amazing and beautiful state.

A Singapore with beautiful beaches, hotels, tourism, business and culture.

They chose otherwise.

A majority of Palestinians voted Hamas whose explicit goal is to destroy Israel.

Hamas won both in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria (aka “the West Bank”).

They began shooting rockets from their new state into Israel.

Tens of thousands of rockets killed children and citizens of Israel, ever since.

THEY CHOSE DEATH FOR JEWS OVER LIFE FOR PALESTINIANS.

Their goal has never been to live side-by-side Israel, but to destroy Israel.

For the past 20 years Israelis hoped again and again that our neighbours seek happiness for their families and this will ultimately moderate them.

We Israelis believe in the inherent goodness of humans.

We were wrong.
Dead wrong.

This is the tough reality we’re facing.

This is a battle between an ideology of life and one of death.

We say “le-Haim” - to life.
We say “Shalom” - peace.

They say “itbach el yahud” - slaughter the Jews.

This is our reality of 2023.

Let me be clear: all Israelis, wall-to-wall are now united to bring total defeat to the terrorists agents of death.

Life will prevail over death.

Please don’t try to stop us, because we won’t until we win.
