I was pleased to meet with Ambassador of Japan Masashi Nakagome, Chief Representative of the JICA Ukraine Office Osamu Hattori, and Ukraine Business Advisor of the JETRO Ukraine Office Shigeru Kono to follow up on the practical outcomes of my visit to Japan last week.
Our dialogue continues, but now with a clear focus on implementation. We discussed the next steps to deliver on the agreements reached in Tokyo and accelerate practical cooperation between Ukraine and Japan.
I am especially grateful for Japan's decision to support the restoration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra through UNESCO, as well as its grant support for a human resources development scholarship programme.
We focused on strengthening Ukraine's energy resilience ahead of the next heating season, advancing recovery projects with JICA, and encouraging greater involvement of Japanese companies in Ukraine's reconstruction through expanded business cooperation with JETRO.
We also discussed the initiative to establish the Ukraine–Japan Business Cooperation Desk — “Kizuna Desk” — which is intended to promote Ukrainian-Japanese business partnership and investment cooperation.
When I returned from Japan, I said that the word I repeated most often was "thank you." During this meeting, I had another opportunity to say it. Together, we are creating new opportunities for our economies, strengthening our resilience, and contributing to a more secure and stable international order.
I congratulate Ms. Svitlana Ilchuk, a Ukrainian expert, on being elected to the @UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
As Ukraine continues to counter Russia’s brutal aggression and protect our youngest citizens from its horrific consequences, our nation is shaping a new paradigm for child defense in conflict zones.
Our experts possess unique, firsthand knowledge and resilient strategies that the global community urgently needs.
We are proud that Ukraine’s voice will now directly contribute to reinforcing international law and enhancing global mechanisms for the protection of children everywhere.
I am leading Ukraine’s delegation and our overall work at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 in Gdańsk.
The Ukrainian team includes representatives of Ukrainian businesses, heads of state-owned companies, leaders of communities from across the country, as well as government officials and members of parliament.
The conference agenda is packed with meetings and events at every level aimed at strengthening Ukraine, Poland, our partners, and Europe as a whole.
Our delegation has a clear mission: to secure concrete agreements that will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and resilience while expanding economic cooperation with our partners. We expect to sign a number of important agreements with international partners, including those aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy sector.
Ukraine is committed to constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the interests of shared European security, economic growth, and long-term prosperity.
Ukraine respects its partners and builds cooperation on the principle of mutual respect.
Thank you to everyone who stands with us and helps make this work possible.
⚡ President Zelenskyy said he returned Poland’s Order of the White Eagle to Poland.
"Ukraine is grateful to the Polish People for their support and cooperation, which play a significant role in the struggle for our and your independence from Russia."
⚡️ Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma has renounced his 1997 award in protest of Warsaw’s recent decision to strip sitting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the same honor.
On June 22, at 10 pm Kyiv time, the @UN Security Council will convene at Ukraine’s request in response to Russia’s recent massive attack against Ukraine.
Such attacks leave scars far beyond the battlefield — taking lives, devastating communities, and damaging cultural heritage that carries the memory and identity of a nation.
We expect Council members to deliver a clear message: Russia should realize that neither Ukraine nor the international community will compromise on the principles of the UN Charter and international law. The time has come to end this war.
We are grateful to our partners for their continued solidarity with Ukraine and support for these efforts.
Before and after Russia’s attack on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
The UNESCO World Heritage site, which dates back to the 11th century, was damaged in Russia’s overnight strike. Fire broke out in one of the most sacred places of Christianity.
Missiles and drones do not strike cultural heritage sites on their own – this is a deliberate barbarity by Russia. This attack must be strongly condemned by the international community. Russia must be held accountable.
I had a conversation with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at Chișinău Airport, on my way to the G7 Summit.
I am grateful to His All-Holiness for his support and unequivocal moral stance: Russia’s drone strikes on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra – a holy site not only of Ukraine, but of the Orthodox world as a whole – are barbarism for which there can be no justification. Patriarch Bartholomew and I also discussed possible formats for in-person meetings.
I invited His All-Holiness to Ukraine. I am grateful for his prayers for Ukraine and our people.
Being unable to achieve its goals on the battlefield, Russia increases terror against civilians. The world cannot close eyes to its scale.
At least three people were killed, including a pregnant 22-year-old woman, in Chuhuiv, as a result of Russia’s overnight terrorist attacks on Kharkiv and its region.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russian strikes killed at least two people and injured over thirty, including children. In Chernihiv, Russians struck an ordinary truck that delivered bread, injuring its 55-year-old driver. Other regions have been under attack as well.
Russia has already committed over 200,000 war crimes in Ukraine in the course of its full-scale invasion. It must be held accountable.
We urge the world to ramp up pressure on the Russian regime and further increase the cost of this terror for the aggressor.
No good news for the Russians.
By refusing President Zelenskyy’s offer for direct peace talks, Putin lost his chance to get out of his failed war.
Things will only get worse for Russia. Battlefield losses will continue to grow. Failures will get more humiliating.
The economy will plunge deeper into recession. More jobs will be lost, taxes will be growing, and inflation will hit those most vulnerable.
There are already no safe places in Russia that can be exempt from Ukraine’s long-range sanctions. But their intensity will continue to grow.
The international pressure will not ease. It will only get stronger. Including the use of frozen assets, travel bans, and inevitable accountability for crimes.
All of this because the fanatic in the Kremlin wants to keep in power at any cost and is ready to sacrifice his country’s future and kill millions of people for his insane delusions.
All of this because he doesn’t want to admit a simple truth: he will never achieve his goals on the battlefield and he better abandon his delusional hopes of Ukraine collapsing soon, support from its partners waning, or pressure on Russia easing.
Russia will still have to accept a diplomatic solution but the terms will be far worse.
Putin’s refusal of peace should lead to a significant increase in international pressure on Russia and support for Ukraine.
On June 5, hundreds of Ukrainians gathered near the border – to welcome home 185 Ukrainian defenders and one civilian released from Russian captivity during the latest prisoner exchange.
They were greeted with flags, flowers and tears of joy. Every Ukrainian still held in Russian captivity return home.
Our sincere congratulations to Georgia and the Georgian people on the occasion of Independence Day! 🇺🇦🇬🇪
Throughout the history of our nations, we have shared much in common. We both know the value of freedom and peace, as well as the strength of partnership and unity.
Wishing Georgia continued success, prosperity, and a peaceful future ahead.
I instructed all our missions to international organizations to make full use of the multilateral toolbox in response to last night’s barbaric Russian missile attack on Kyiv.
UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, and UNESCO should provide an adequate and strong response to the aggressor, which is attempting to compensate for the lack of military advances on the battlefield with terror against civilians.
We immediately request an urgent UN Security Council meeting and a joint meeting of OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation and OSCE Permanent Council.
Putin is trying to intimidate Ukraine by attacking civilians and destroying residential buildings, museums, schools, and critical infrastructure. He is also trying to intimidate the world by launching IRBMs against peaceful cities.
All of this requires strong and coordinated action by the international community. We urge our partners to resolute multilateral actions aimed at deterring Russia and compelling it toward a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.
As a result of Russia’s overnight attack against Ukraine, at least 100 people across Ukraine have been injured, and four killed. Kyiv was the main target, but strikes affected multiple locations across Ukraine.
Residential buildings, schools, civilian infrastructure, a market and a water supply facility were damaged.
In Kyiv alone, 78 people were injured and two killed. Search and rescue operations continue in the capital, where people may still remain under the rubble.
Russia continues to wage war not against military targets but against ordinary people. Deliberate attacks on civilians must not become normalised or go unanswered. Ukraine needs continued support and stronger pressure to stop Russia’s terror and bring a just peace closer.
