UPDATE: Uganda will waive visa fees for all visitors entering the country during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), in a move aimed at easing travel and boosting tourism ahead of the continental tournament.
According to the government’s commitment, the visa waiver will run for at least three months—beginning one month before the tournament kicks off and extending to one month after the final match.
The measure is expected to facilitate the smooth entry of thousands of fans, officials, and tourists expected in the country during the competition, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
In a related development, the government is also pursuing the introduction of a special joint “PAMOJA visa” in collaboration with Kenya and Tanzania. The proposed visa arrangement would allow visitors to move freely across the three host countries for the duration of the tournament. #KaribuTravels
