Trying to keep brain engaged. Public services not fit for purpose; likewise our political system. Health & social care, birds, trees, classical music. Also gin.
@AdrianRamsay Yes - it's essential and a matter of urgency that Govt has a comprehensive strategy and not just a bit of the usual tinkering that politicians tend to prefer. This is way to important to get wrong or delay.
@stone3Clare@michaelgove@LucyGoBag I know what I think of him. Like wise Johnson who, when asked to comment, said he's proud of the procurement process. People died and others have serious long term health issues because of their recklessness, but there's no accountability so what do they care?
@stone3Clare@michaelgove@LucyGoBag Just heard him acknowledge that some decisions were 'mistakes', so presumably he thinks that gets him and all the others off the hook. Not buying it for one minute.
@latte147 Same here, and the £50 included removing the packaging and taking it away, so I had to make a trip to the recycling centre as it was too big for home collection.
@quakerpen Some of his supporters may have reached that conclusion, but diehard maga cult members will need a very good reason (maybe cost of living hitting them hard) to lose faith. The rest of the US and most of the world can't wait for his brand and disastrous presidency to implode.
@annesmithmcc How fortunate for MPs that the inquiry was to learn lessons and not to attribute blame. So, probably no lessons learned and no consequences for MPs. Meanwhile families of those who died and those living with long term ill health through no fault of their own are left to carry on.
@DamianHastie What won't change is that those who presided over this scandalous waste of public money can just carry on without consequences.
No change either for those affected by the recklessness and incompetence that led to many deaths, plus those having to live with long term ill health.
@writethewrongs2 A couple of days ago I was watering the garden, including the laurel hedge, when a bedraggled and wet robin appeared from underneath and stood glaring at me, suggesting that he wasn't in the slightest bit amused.
@implausibleblog Talking about having the fastest growing economy is meaningless unless it's put into context. It's much easier to grow more quickly if you start off as a country with low growth compared with other countries.
@natalieben@AshOrg Vapes may have less nicotine than cigarettes, but they contain other ingredients that can damage people's health eg metals, VOCs and chemicals. A change to the packaging would be welcome, but the potential dangers of the contents will remain.
@CovidSolidarit1 Hope your tinnitus isn't too bad. There are plenty of us now who don't bother to seek help unless we've reached the point where we can't live with something. Never thought for a minute this would happen.
@CMO_England Vapes are marketed as safer than cigarettes as they contain less nicotine. What's not said is that vapes contain chemicals, VOCs, metals and and other ingredients that are also harmful to health. Changing the packaging doesn't change the ingredients or the potential health harms.
@danaparish@Elainebks@mryoung151@drneilspector That's exactly the discussion I heard on the radio this morning. Vapes have been encouraged as they contain less nicotine, but people aren't told about all the other things that are in them to produce the enticing flavours that are clearly aimed at younger people. Criminal imo.
@danaparish@Elainebks@mryoung151 The same applies to vapes, which contain chemicals & VOCs. Not sure how harmful they are for pets, but humans thinking that vapes are a safe alternative to cigarettes deserve to be told exactly what they're inhaling and the associated risks to their health.
@unfeltsorrow Govts just don't want to talk about it but continue to offer vaccines, albeit on a restricted basis, so they're acknowledging that C-19 remains a danger. People in the 18-24 age range are mainly unprotected and will have had several infections, but still the silence continues.
