Testing e20 fuel in an open steel dish to explain engine combustion is like blowing air through a straw to demonstrate how a jet engine works. It’s a cheap party trick that completely ignores pressure, fuel ratios, and mechanical tolerance. It’s pure school-science-fair theatricals designed to mislead anyone who doesn’t know how an internal combustion engine actually works.

An engine cylinder is not an open plate. It operates under massive pressure, high velocity, and precise timing - not a open-air diffusion burn.

Here is why that dish demo is absolute nonsense:

1. Open Flames vs. Engine Physics:
Petrol leaves soot in an open dish because it lacks oxygen in open air. Ethanol carries its own oxygen, so of course it burns clearer on a plate! But inside an engine, air is forcibly mixed with fuel. A clean burn on a steel dish means zero for what happens inside a pressurized combustion chamber.

2. Running "Lean" Means Higher Harmful Emissions:
Pure petrol needs a 14.7:1 air-fuel ratio, while E20 needs ~13.8:1. If your car isn't tuned specifically for E20, the engine runs "lean" (too much air, not enough fuel). Lean combustion spikes cylinder temperatures, which actually increases dangerous Nitrogen Oxide {NOx) emissions - the exact toxic stuff that causes urban smog. Plus it also releases carcinogenic aldehydes.

3. Damaged Injectors = Dirty Burn Later
Ethanol is a solvent that corrodes non-E20 rubber hoses, seals, and aluminum pumps. When corroded fuel injectors start leaking or spraying unevenly, fuel atomization fails. The result? Incomplete combustion, engine misfires, and heavy soot - destroying the very "clean burn" you were promised.

4. Burning More Fuel to Go the Same Distance:
Ethanol has 33% less energy density than petrol. E20 forces your vehicle to burn more fuel just to cover the same mileage. Burning more liters of fuel overall while pretending it's "green" because of a kitchen-dish magic trick is top-tier political spin.

Stop using high school science experiments to justify forcing uncalibrated fuel into millions of non-compliant engines. A clean flame on a plate isn't engineering - it's propaganda. And frankly, this desperate defence of e20 is now not funny anymore but plain ridiculous.

Jantar Mantar protests did a world of good to India and Indians. It empowered students across states. It focussed on education as a need, a demand and a right that should be fought for. Indian students are done waiting. A wave of protests have hit UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP, Maharashtra & Jharkhand etc.

In Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, about 1,500 students, Classes 6-12, staged a 6-hour sit-in at Sarvodaya Inter College. No fans, no library, no computer lab, unsafe drinking water, broken desks. Officials came calling within a day.

In Gays, Bihar, A government school with a broken hand pump, dead fans, shattered benches. Students protested and refused to speak to a junior official. They demanded the District Magistrate himself show up. He did.

In Jalore, Rajasthan, students locked the gates themselves, demanding teachers for grades 1-3 that simply weren’t there.

In Barmer’s Ramsar school, same story. Kids literally not being taught subjects due to staff shortages.

Across MP, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Similar walkouts reported. Same core demands echoing across states: functional fans, clean water, hygienic toilets, teachers actually in the classroom.

What Jantar Mantar protests achieved is exceptional. India is discussing education, faculty shortages, unfairness, paper leaks, lack of school infrastructure. None of these demands are unreasonable and the minimum a public school owes a child. The fact it took a viral sit in to get it fixed is the real story.

I only wish this continues. We should continue to bring student issues to the forefront. Empower them with coverage, conversations. This can’t be allowed to fade as a one week news cycle. Keep asking. Keep covering. About vacant teacher posts in your district? What happened to the school infrastructure budget? Tag your local officials.

1. जिस अमेरिकी पेटेंट का हवाला दिया जा रहा है, वह किसी अमेरिकी संस्था का नहीं, बल्कि भारत की वैज्ञानिक एवं औद्योगिक अनुसंधान परिषद (CSIR) द्वारा दायर किया गया था।

2. यह पेटेंट 2020 में मेंटेनेंस (एक्सटेंशन) फीस जमा न होने के कारण समाप्त (Expired) हो गया।

3. यह पेटेंट गाय के मूत्र पर नहीं, बल्कि गाय के मूत्र के डिस्टिलेट (Cow Urine Distillate) के असर का है अर्थात दावा मूत्र पर नहीं, बल्कि उसके आसुत (distilled) अंश के संभावित प्रभाव पर था।

4. स्वयं पेटेंट में यह भी उल्लेख है कि इसी प्रकार का प्रभाव भैंस, ऊँट और हिरण के मूत्र के डिस्टिलेट में भी देखा गया।

डिस्टिलेशन (Distillation) क्या है?

किसी भी मिश्रण में उपस्थित विभिन्न घटकों का वाष्प दाब (Vapor Pressure) और क्वथनांक (Boiling Point) अलग-अलग होता है। इसी सिद्धांत का उपयोग करके डिस्टिलेशन के माध्यम से कुछ वाष्पशील (volatile) घटकों को अलग किया जाता है। यही तकनीक पानी के शुद्धिकरण, समुद्री जल के अलवणीकरण (desalination), रसायन उद्योग और यहाँ तक कि सीवेज के उपचार में भी उपयोग की जाती है। इसलिए किसी पदार्थ का डिस्टिलेट प्राप्त होना अपने-आप में उस मूल पदार्थ के औषधीय या सेवन योग्य होने का प्रमाण नहीं है।

अब एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न उठता है। गाय सहित लगभग सभी जानवरों के मूत्र में विभिन्न प्रकार के सूक्ष्मजीव और खरनाक रोगजनक (pathogenic) बैक्टीरिया पाए जाते हैं। यदि मूत्र में इतना शक्तिशाली एंटीमाइक्रोबियल कंपोनेंट होता, तो सबसे पहले उसी में मौजूद बैक्टीरिया नष्ट हो जाने चाहिए थे।

वास्तविकता यह है कि अनेक रसायनों और प्राकृतिक पदार्थों में प्रयोगशाला स्तर पर एंटीमाइक्रोबियल गतिविधि (antimicrobial activity) पाई जाती है, लेकिन इसका अर्थ यह नहीं होता कि वे सीधे पीने, खाने या चिकित्सा के लिए सुरक्षित और प्रभावी सिद्ध हो जाते हैं। किसी पदार्थ को दवा मानने के लिए कठोर प्रीक्लिनिकल और क्लिनिकल परीक्षण आवश्यक होते हैं।

भारत जैसे देश में, जहाँ अभी भी वैज्ञानिक साक्षरता और वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण को मजबूत करने की आवश्यकता है, संसद जैसे सर्वोच्च लोकतांत्रिक मंच से इस प्रकार के अधूरे या भ्रामक दावे करना लोगों में भ्रम और अंधविश्वास को बढ़ावा मिलेगा । सार्वजनिक जीवन में वैज्ञानिक विषयों पर चर्चा हमेशा उपलब्ध वैज्ञानिक प्रमाणों और तथ्यों के आधार उस विषय के एक्सपर्ट को करनी चाहिए न कि प्रोपेगंडा के लिए भाषण बाजी करना चाहिए।
