I had my first experience of successfully helping a child tie his shoelaces today, such a good feeling!

Paediatrics is proving to be a steep learning curve but the good times are so good 😊

In my fourth week with the paediatrics team, still loads to learn but a smile from a cute child cures all! Enjoying it but finding it to be a very steep learning curve, any suggestions for reading would be welcomed!

Reflecting on my last 5 months (rotating early) on community therapies, I've learnt so much about walking aids, dressing aids and problem solving! Helped massively by having a really supportive team around me 😊

This week has been a great example of how working with people is both the best and worst part of being an OT! Had some wonderful patients who are motivated to engage in their rehab but also a few challenging situations. Lots of reflection to come I think!

In September I will be rotating into paediatrics, I've learnt so much in community therapies but can't wait to be working with children again and applying both my OT skills and everything I learnt before I was an OT!

Spent all of this week up till now on training, first 3 days looking at single handed care with @a1risksolutions and today looking at how to implement the Patient Activation Measure into the community therapies team, both very interactive and interesting topics!

Finished my first week on my new rotation with a full head and looking forward to what's to come, lots to learn but I'm looking forward to the next 6 months!

Today was my last day on my first rotation and I was well and truly spoilt by the team! It's been a great 6 months and I've learnt so much, thank you to everyone on Sheridan ward for being a great team to share my first qualified OT experience with!
