We use science to support the management and conservation of marine species and ecosystems. We're part of OSU's Marine Mammal Institute located @HatfieldMSC
We're seeking a #postdoc at @OceanEcologyLab for a new project with @NOAAFish_NWFSC to study the role of marine mammals and seabirds in shaping the early life history of salmon. Fun fieldwork! Cool models! Thermal imaging! AI! $55-60k for 2.5yr pls share!: https://t.co/RLYDGIRECn

What will recovering whale populations look like in a changing climate? So happy to see our paper on gray whale population dynamics out today in @ScienceMagazine! We show that gray whales go through major boom and bust cycles in response to dynamic and changing Arctic conditions.
Happy #WorldMantaDay! I had the pleasure of presenting @ICES_ASC last week in Bilbao on the results of our work to estimate and reduce post release mortality of these amazing rays in purse seine fisheries. 📷@Leire_Lopetegui
#Newpaperalert 🌊🦈 Oceanic manta rays are elusive, dwelling in remote island waters but in Bahía de Banderas 🇲🇽, they come close to shore! ️
📚 Our study is the FIRST to unveil their coastal secrets with passive acoustics! and It is OPEN ACCESS! 🔓

The reviewers' comments on my paper:
-This MS on oceanic mantas provides unique insight into this species
-This is an important study
-The MS provides data of significant importance to the field
-I'd suggest only minor revisions
🥹🥳 I'm so happy! 🤓

So proud of @OceanEcologyLab grad students @Santiagodomsa and Allison Kane who were awarded @HatfieldMSC Markham scholarships for their research and presented these amazing posters!
The @OceanEcologyLab and our partners at NOAA are looking for a quantitative postdoc to explore drivers of salmon marine survival (prey, predators, competitors, harvest, climate change) using structural equation models! Salary $57-60k. Please share! Deets: https://t.co/xjxW4EBwdn
“Where are you gonna be in 2100 when someone wants your data?”
We’re so stoked for (twitterless) postdoc Dylan Gomes, who received an award for his outstanding talk on #OpenData for ecosystem models at @eccwo ! Check out his talk here: https://t.co/V40xygVEww #ECCWO5
New paper on manta and devil ray aggregations led by Marta Palacios! Laying the groundwork for her fantastic ongoing research on the superaggregations of Munk’s devil rays in Baja California.
New @OceanEcologyLab paper out today! Southern Resident killer whale occupancy in the San Juan Islands & surrounding core summer habitat has declined by 75-90% in the past two decades, in step with declining Fraser river Chinook salmon returns https://t.co/aODyr5fus8
@OceanEcologyLab PhD student @Santiagodomsa and postdoc Dylan Gomes deploying passive acoustic SoundTraps with NOAA collaborators to monitor Southern Resident killer whales and other vocalizing marine mammals on the outer coast of Washington state!
After 12 years of living in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, I visited cold northern waters! The sunsets in the pacific are always my favorite and make me feel at home.
10 out of 10 sound traps deployed along the WA coast! #phd#phdlife@OceanEcologyLab@NOAAFisheries@HatfieldMSC
