Lights can now have depth. So the sunlight coming through the leaves in the back affect the background a lot, but the terrain not so much. But items like torches work in reverse. I can have lights move in and out of the screen too. Looks really cool! #indiedev#pixelart#GMS2
@XorDev I'll have a post when it's fully polished, but it uses a mix of tile based for bounce lighting, and I also have a depth map that I use a shader on for shadows, like in "rain world". The shader also puts subtle highlights on edge pixels facing the light.
@TheLawlDawg Pretty sure villagers tell you everything eventually. I remember them even explained feng shui in wild word, which I thought was a hidden feature.
@eigenbom I would really like to see machine learning-based voice acting, where characters could say your name and stuff. This would drastically reduce production costs and bring tons of variance. There's really just a whole lot of machine learning stuff that's exciting.
@splaffinator@ShadowriverUB This is so polished looking! Great work! The only thing keeping it from being nintendo-level is the way he comes out of his flex pose. That stands out a bit for me.
@TylerGlaiel I think it has to do with how long games take to develop now. We had 3 uncharted's and a last of us on PS3. We have 1 uncharted and 1 last of us coming. 2 whole grand theft autos last gen, no new one current gen. Games just take so much time now.
