@Calibremag This was an excellent read! You have a real talent for reasoned commentary and I think this kind of thing is a good fit for you. Congratulations! I am looking forward to reading more.
@jkenney@howardanglin@DanielJHannan@yuanyi_z The Irish Republic exists because Irish nationalism is largely republican. That there were monarchists who claimed the nation of Ireland, some of them Catholic, does not negate the truth of the former. Sons and daughters of the Empire - was and is a minority position.
@RobynUrback I think it challenges the notion that Carney’s credentials and professional achievements mean that his policy positions should just be accepted at face value.
What’s missing from this article is any mention of “mass non-compliance”. If this piece was all you had to go on - you’d think gun owners are desperate to opt in and can’t or don’t know how. Maybe on the margins, but that’s not what’s driving this failure.
@TomPark1n “Blind faith and high ideology” is why people continue to suggest awful policies that have consistently failed. You are doing the “leftists pretend not to understand” meme.
@rocketoperator@siomoCTV In either of those cases, I would rather have a gun. Hoping that violent thugs are not going to be violent is a gamble that I am not willing to take. No one, as matter of government fiat, should be forced to take that bet.
@WiretapMediaCa@StaceyMonette27 The fact that you “can’t touch people like that” IS the problem. The overreaction by the guard is the downstream effect of a society that otherwise tolerates petty criminal behaviour.
Why does this article only include the Gov’t/Minister’s perspective? Might as well read a government news release. Why not ask police, gun owners etc? @nationalpost https://t.co/VPJ5ZZZPS4
