Passionate about human and civil rights, especially for the oppressed; about education and learning; about language; about baseball; about Monty Python.
@Joe_Davis On this date in 2011, the Dodgers scored four runs in the first inning in San Diego on a single and six walks. When the Padres' starter was finally taken out of his misery, Andre Ethier hit the reliever's first pitch for a grand slam.
@Joe_Davis "Cricket bat" is the proper term. It's wielded by the "striker" as he faces the "bowler," who "bowls" to him.
That's like 90 percent of my knowledge of cricket.
@browngravy227 @CollinRugg It was a storm. It's passed, and the surf is back to normal.
I live one kilometer from the coast. I can tell when the surf is high just by listening. That's a lot more accurate than conspiracy theories.
@HappyCamperKat@savsays The ceremony was held an hour before the first pitch. Anyone who knows anything about the Dodgers knows their fans are famous for not getting to the yard before the third inning. It's been a running joke for at least 50 years.
@Allfperrin@dnmanks@savsays If your mythological deity actually existed, it'd roll its eyes at the professional victims and say, "This isn't what I taught you!"
If you think sports have ever "promoted moralism and 'clean living'," you must've followed them only through "moral and clean living" media.
@SunshineSoul9 @dnmanks@savsays The ceremony was held an hour before the first pitch. Pregame ceremonies are typically held early to give the grounds crew time for final field prep. Attendance for the game was 49,074.
Dodgers fans are famous for not getting to games until the third inning. It's widely known.
@kareemjeanjr@thereidout The hed on the left is about natural immunity. The one on the right is about immunity resulting from the vaccine.
No lies told, except yours.
@BarnettParker@kay0kayla Credit her? You should *pay* her as well as giving her a credit, as you do with other reporters/correspondents ("stringers") for the news they provide you. And, everybody who has video a tee vee news outlet wants should demand payment *and* credit, or no video.
@MarkWoodleyTV I've waited my entire life for a tee vee reporter to stand in the middle of brutal weather and "tell other people not to do the same thing." If you don't win a special Emmy for this, you should do it again, wearing only a jockstrap.
@MatthewJshow@POTUS We got pretty sick of Drumpf's lies, and he lied more than 30,000 times just while in office. So, we don't want to read your projections
@gmomfla12171@CNN No, not "everybody can get an ID." Government-issued IDs typically require a birth certificate, and not "everybody" has one. Most states make them available for a fee, but not "everybody" can afford the fee.
Stop believing "everybody" can do something because you did it.
@Joe_Davis Speaking of Vinny's "textbook" games, this is my favorite from the Brooklyn days: vs. Cubs @ Ebbets, 6/4/1957, Koufax vs. Dick Drott. Debut of Brooklyn kid Joe Pignatano (replacing Campy after HBP). The way Vinny handled that was classic Vinny. (Link in next post.)
