Off-rolling is a deplorable tactic that has the potential to destroy the life of any student, but students with Special Educational Needs are more at risk. Around 33% of students that have been off-rolled have some form of SEN.

5/n This is only going to continue to rise whilst the cuts to school's SEN budgets rise. We must call on all MATs and LEA-regulated schools to end off-rolling, and a full DfE investigation into any school or MAT that does off-roll.

4/n When it comes to students with SEN, they are at a significantly higher risk than their peers without SEN. SEN students often face off-rolling when the educational provider can no longer sustain or acquire the necessary funding for the support the child deserves.

3/n Pupils can't just be excluded for any reason, statutory guidance prevents that. An objection to off-rolling is not an objection to exclusion or disciplinary measures - it is an objection to the unfair stripping of a child's right to education.

2/n These students could require support for anything from dyslexia to ASD to ADHD. When a school adopts the disgraceful practice of off-rolling it offers a significant disadvantage to those with SEN offering room for discrimination.
