Our second stop in Kentucky. We were told that Kentucky is all about horse racing, so we went to Keeneland Racecourse and visited some of the horses. They sell for insane prices. It’s a sport we didn’t know anything about, but after talking to the people who showed us around and hearing how crazy it gets on race days, we decided we have to come back for a race here.🐎

Just once, I'd like the conspiracy folks to explain to me what's in it for state vets to scratch healthy horses. As best as I can tell, they frustrate their bosses by reducing field size, get ripped apart on the internet, and are often verbally abused by the connections.

A gallop doesn’t tell the whole story and that’s what makes these moments so tough. You can know your horse inside out and still have a vet see something subtle that doesn’t sit right. The regulatory vets feel that weight too, they know what’s on the line. Their job is to protect the horses from the small chance that something small turns serious. Sometimes that means a horse misses their big day but the flip side is that it can keep racing because of those same precautions.
