@SOLDBYPONCE@CoachMcCannJSG@Coach_Maxie626 Football season ends in nov/dec. If they play baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, run track, etc, they're occupied til may/june...
This idea that everything has to cater around Football is insane.
@Toohey_sp This is coming from someone who loves gadgets. I'll also use whatever tool necessary to get the job done. The origin of those uses however is in the problem that needed to be solved vs the thing simply being available.
@Toohey_sp Maybe around 2019 I noticed that more coaches started relying on "toys" rather than using them as a tool where necessary. I'm sure it was happening before but I didn't pay much attention until social media became more pervasive. It makes a lot of coaches lazy in my opinion.
@seancooper_C4 Also, Kupp has never looked like a 10.4 guy. He's a great route runner and excels zone situations. I think his times plus what we see on the field align with each other.
@seancooper_C4 Or.....the scouts should focus more on the players on field performance. I say this with complete understanding of your point and as someone who's a numbers guy. But being a good player should eliminate the effect that a time has on a players ability to play.
@HURcoachdabb To play devils advocate, if coaches use flying 10, 20, 30m splits to evaluate athletes, they can do the same with accurate relay splits. Again, I don't use splits given by parents or coaches with a stopwatch. If I'm positioned properly and I film the race, I'll use splits.
@HURcoachdabb I can't say that I've ever recruited from a relay split but if if im the one that filmed and timed the split, i would use it as a viable source of information. Along with my eyes, I use every stat/metric available to make a recruiting decision(when I coached collegiately).
@TexasTrackDad If I share what I know and you get better results, you're probably a better coach.
The fear of being outdone is apparently greater than the desire to evolve and get better
@I_Coach_Speed Truth be told, the coaching at the "luxury" schools isn't inherently better. It's simply easier as a whole to be better. However now that more schools will(should) have an opportunity to get higher caliber athletes, there should in theory be more parody in terms of competition
@I_Coach_Speed In some ways, I think this forces parents, coaches and h.s. athletes to be more open minded instead of having an d1, sec, or nothing mentality. Although the same schools will likely get the same top athletes, the middle of the pack schools will now be an option.
@adrianeauxx@CoachFreezy@justingatlin This is a foolish take. If that's all she did than that's what a "coach" would be doing too. If the simplicity of the job is what you're describing to discredit her, than what else could a "coach" add to it, that would suddenly make their presence more valuable?
@TheErinBrown If you've been training for and running the 100m your entire career, probably not. If you've never run or trained for it and were injury prone prior to, far more likely.
@TheErinBrown I think the implication is obvious, however, I don't think there's enough context with Usain for example. Sure you can say he went from 10.03 to 9.6 but what was his 100m pr prior to 07'. In reality, he went from 9.9-9.8 to 9.6 based on what he was running in the 200m
@trackspice On paper team 3 is the fastest and probably has the best combination of order and speed. I would switch the order on a couple of the other teams but team 3 is definitely the most balanced.
