For all those maniacally shrieking about how we are going to enter a period of sickness and disease with some of the new administrations personnel and policy views - just ask yourselves one basic question: do you really believe the last several decades have led to peak health in this country? And you are afraid we are going to now reverse that?
By every objective measure, we are NOT in a golden era of American health. We are completely fucked.
- Over 70% of Americans are overweight or obese
⁃ More than 60% are prediabetic or diabetic
⁃ Metabolic syndrome is pervasive
⁃ Childhood illnesses, autoimmune disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions have surged to unprecedented levels
⁃ Depression, anxiety, pessimism, trauma at all time highs
⁃ Rates of neurodegenerative disease and cancer continue to rise
- Circadian health in the toilet
⁃ Even cognitive metrics, like IQ, appear to be declining
The loudest voices of dissent are ironically the same individuals and institutions that got us to this point. Theyre also the ones who fervently enforced masking toddlers, imposed rigid and unproven COVID-era interventions, and placed ideological dogma over evidence-based reasoning. The very system they champion is largely responsible for the crises we face today.
The current healthcare model is failing all of us, and it’s failing catastrophically. For decades, we’ve poured trillions into a disease-care system that is reactive rather than preventive, symptom-focused rather than root-cause-driven. Our medical system prioritizes the treatment of advanced illness over the cultivation of health. What has that gotten us? A population that is sicker, heavier, and more chronically unwell than at any time in history.
Yet when when we finally have leaders calling for bold change—a shift toward prevention, personalized care, and addressing root causes—the reflexive response from many is outrage. They claim these efforts will “lead us into darkness,” that deviating from the status quo is reckless and unproven.
Why would anyone defend the very system that brought us to this point? Why would we double down on the policies and practices that have produced such terrible outcomes?
Can we honestly do worse than a society where seven out of ten adults are metabolically unwell? Where childhood obesity is so common that it’s often dismissed as normal? Where entire generations are on track to live shorter, sicker lives than their parents? If this is the “gold standard” of healthcare, then we should all be clamoring for something radically different.
This isn’t about ideology or politics—it’s about survival. The current model is unsustainable. It’s not keeping us alive and thriving; it’s keeping us sedated and sick. A new approach—one that focuses on prevention, lifestyle medicine, and addressing the root causes of disease—isn’t radical. It’s rational. And it’s long overdue.
So to those screaming from the rooftops that we’re heading into a dark period of healthcare, I say this:
Just try shutting the fuck up for once.
Perhaps you’re just wrong. Perhaps you’re not afraid of the dark. Perhaps you’re afraid of the light—of what we’ll see when we finally step out of the shadows of this broken system and into the bright, uncompromising truth.
We don’t need incremental tweaks to a failing system; we need a revolution in how we think about, deliver, and prioritize health.
Change is coming, and it’s not the threat you fear. It’s the opportunity we’ve been waiting for and the one that we and our children deserve.

I can’t believe I’m even doing this and responding to some guy named “shart dressed man” 🙄
But here goes, a brief primer on how to read and interpret scientific papers, and not just literally click on the first thing that pops up on google.
Orgs like AHA have inconsistencies all over the place. Their websites are huge and some intern is managing it.
But SCIENTIFIC STATEMENTS are updated thinking of the org, arrived to by consensus and committee.
So…
Step 1: Literally just click on the resource I posted and actually go LOOK at it and try to learn, rather than prove a point. We are talking about importance of protein intake to support muscle growth/maintenance in the context of resistance training at ALL ages.
Step 2: Using your eyeballs, go read it and look at the section in question, in this case, protein intake to MAINTAIN ADEQUATE MUSCLE MASS which is a MAJOR driver of morbidity and mortality.
Functional decline literally kills us. 25-30% of seniors over age 65 who have a hip fracture literally die within a YEAR. Major reason for the fall?Sarcopenia and functional decline.
Step 3: Try to comprehend what they’re saying and then go look at linked references yourself. First pic is directly from the AHA scientific statement. The natural question from reading should be, “hmm, I wonder what is meant by ‘A balanced diet through the consumption of whole foods with overall protein intake on the basis of Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range is adequate to support muscle health benefits’”?
So what is this acceptable macronutrient range that the AHA is recommending and citing in its scientific statement?
You should go look up citation #94 which should tell us exactly how much protein intake is adequate to preserve muscle health and stave off sarcopenia.
Step 4: Go read the reference. Picture 2 below. Wow, shockingly… they state 1.4-2g/kg at least, and there may even be benefit up to 3g/kg.
Step 5: Do math. That equals approximately 0.65-1.35g/POUND. Using common sense, the middle value there is, again, shockingly, 1g protein/pound.
My one caveat: this should be 1g/lb of IDEAL body weight, not current if you are overweight/obese.
Step 6: Let’s just make sure this is all legit. Do the writers of the AHA scientific statement have any weird disclosures to make? Nope. Pic 3 would suggest they’re being pretty straight up and just conveying the evidence. As opposed to the FDA/USDA (pic 4) where literally 95% of the committee making dietary guidelines for Americans had a conflict…
So, why does the first googled thing on the AHA website say something different? 🤷🏾♂️ Cause they’re terrible at website maintenance and just haven’t updated is my guess. The webpage linked by smarty pants below literally says “last reviewed March 26, 2017.”
Yes I know it’s crazy that a giant organization could have outdated info on their website, and then put out a more contemporary scientific statement 2 weeks ago that hasn’t filtered through to updates yet.
This should be enough to convince you, but a discerning mind would want to corroborate.
Step 7: Look for other supporting data. There are literally dozens of high quality studies on higher protein intake (both safe and effective) if one even does a cursory pubmed search.
Step 8: Get blocked
Step 9: Cry
Step 10: Delete account and start even worse handle and then begin trolling all over again
And like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives…

@rbnstyle @ices256 @slak909@JudiciaryGOP You blame geriatric covid deaths on Trump when democrat Mayors were the ones ordering covid patients directly into nursing homes. You are brainwashed.
