Alastair Campbell, "I will say to Zia Yusuf and his friend Nigel Farage"
"Brexit has taken 6-8% out of economy"
"If we had not left, the Chancellor today would have had £90 billion more to spend"
"He could have doubled the defence budget"
Fiona Bruce, "That is a projection Alastair, no one can be sure about that"
Alastair Campbell, "And added 50% to the health budget as well"
"The people who gave us Brexit now want to give you another set of false promises"
"Do not fall for them because they are a bunch of conmen. They're being found out. And its one reason why Nigel Farage will never be Prime Minister of this country"
My view:
Fiona Bruce was quick to dismiss Campbell’s figures as “a projection”. But that shouldn’t be a way to shut down the argument.
Campbell was making a point about what Brexit has cost the country: on his figures, a 6–8% hit to the economy means around £90 billion less for the Chancellor to spend—enough, he said, to double the defence budget or increase health spending by 50%.
And remember what Nigel Farage was saying in 2016: that even without a trade deal, Britain would be better off than it was then. The evidence points the other way.
The OBR estimates that Brexit will leave UK productivity around 4% lower than it would have been inside the EU; other studies put the economic hit higher. That means we’re poorer than we would have been had we stayed.
So yes, these are estimates—but the claims made by Brexit’s champions were projections too. Bruce’s caveat shouldn’t obscure the central question Campbell raised: how much has Brexit cost us, and what could that money have done for the country?

Police in Pennsylvania pulled over a Black mother and accused her of a "drug transaction" after she handed her son his forgotten coffee cup outside his home.
Fairview Township, Pennsylvania
"What did you hand off to the gentleman that walked out of his house?" the officer asks 55-year-old business owner Biancha Tatum on video.
"His coffee cup," Tatum tells him. "I'm tired of him leaving his mess in my car."
The officer still asks to search her vehicle: "Well, that's what it looked like."
"I'm a business owner, okay? I don't sell drugs, do drugs… I gave him a coffee cup. It was a white coffee cup!"
Should handing your son his coffee cup ever be probable cause for a police stop?
Hi @JDVance what “attachment” to this land do your Indian immigrant in-laws Radhakrishna Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri have please? And do you say this racist stuff to their faces or just save it for mainly-white MAGA rallies?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "trying to set a trap for Gadi Eisenkot that Gadi Eisenkot should not fall into" by claiming election fraud in Israel's elections, New York Democratic House candidate Brad Lander claims.
He says Netanyahu is attempting to "demonize and discount the votes of Palestinian citizens of Israel who, if it's a democracy, their votes count just as much as Jewish voters."
"All Eisenkot has to do is work out a coalition with those voters, and Netanyahu can be gone," he adds. "And showing Jewish-Arab collaboration is the path forward for safety and flourishing, both for Israelis and for Palestinians."
On October 20, ConEd mechanic Koran Irvine was fatally shot by retired NYPD detective Victor Romero, who claimed the 46-year-old father was swerving into his lane, prompting him to discharge his weapon at Irvine's rear window amid moving traffic on George Washington Bridge - the world's busiest motor vehicle bridge. Romero drove home and returned to work the next day, where NYPD detectives asked him to voluntarily come in for questioning. One week following the tragic incident, a grand jury indicted Romero on second-degree murder charges - an upgrade from a manslaughter charge he previously received. He was granted bail and remains free. Status Coup's @jonfarina documents a rally by Irvine's family and friends in Lower Manhattan following Romero's indictment.

Piers, where was your journalistic integrity in the 8 years you spent propping up an alleged pedophile? If all you Meghan-hating vultures spent an iota of the time you spent smearing her actually doing your job, maybe you would have discovered Thomas Markle was under investigation!
The two-faced caucacity of Piers Morgan blaming Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is typical of this white privileged Meghan-obsessed buffoon.
A 54-year-old Israeli man allegedly lured women to his Bangkok condo through dating apps, fed them cakes suspected of containing drugs, and secretly filmed sexual encounters.
Thai police arrested him on Friday, discovering he had overstayed his visa by 2,095 days, nearly six years.
Officers seized 15 grams of crystal meth, 50 packaging bags, a digital scale, suspected drug-laced cakes, and a phone containing numerous sexual recordings.
During the arrest, the man reportedly claimed powerful connections would secure his release within two hours. He threatened to have the entire arresting team transferred or fired and allegedly threatened to kill one officer.
