@WexitN@Martyupnorth Myself and most people I know used the mail in ballots. Much easier to have a package arrive, fill out the info, and drop it off at the post office at my leisure. I did not have to take time away from work to vote, or go out of my way.
Cale Makar with another HORRIBLE defensive effort as he gets deked for a free breakaway and Devils score 🤯‼️
Every night we get ANOTHER misplay from the so called “best defenseman”
Evan Bouchard
This season, he rates 100% offensively and 100% defensively in the NHL. But what does this mean? Well...
Bouchard has a 14-1 goal share at even strength. As unbelievable of a "PDO" that is, because tbf, a 17.7% on ice shooting shouldn't be sustainable, let me point some things out.
The Defense
First. Bouchard has 1 GA. His xGA? 1.19. He SHOULD only have 1 GA. A 0.76 xGA/60. Only 2 players have been better. Draisaitl (1) and Podkolzin (2). So he's the best defensively in the NHL right now among Dman. But how good is that? His xSv% is .950%. Meaning, goalies are expected to have a .950 sv% when he is on the ice. I'll pick a player at random. Thomas Harley, his xSv% is .904%.
The avg chance on net quality is 0.033 xG%. The NHL avg is 0.062 xG%. Bouchard has been the most prolific defender in the NHL... all the while facing the 7th hardest matchups/minutes in the NHL. Babcock and company relies on Bouchard to prevent the best in the NHL. That's more than 200 other Dman. Bouchard is 1st in xGA.
The Offence
6 goals. 6 assists. 12 pts. 5 games. The next Dman after his is Makar... 7 pts in 5 games. Remarkably for Makar, he has 7pts on 9 on ice goals. That 77.7% IPP is nuts. His career avg is 56% ish. Bouchard? 12 pts on 18 on ice goals. Thats 66%. That is still high, but 55-60% is reasonable. 10 pts in 5 games would be reasonable. Unheard of.
Bouchard is 2nd in the NHL in xGF, 12th per 60. I mean, he does face the hardest competition. 18 goals on 10.95 xGF. Is that sustainable, that shooting? His avg chance on net is 0.072%. Notably, his on-ice shooting % should be 10.7%. Not 17.7%. So he has been getting lucky, but this it at even strength. At all strengths, Bouchard is a 13.7% expected on ice % and a QF of 0.091%. Borderline a high quality chance, every chance.
Notably too, Bouchard plays on the PK as well. Getting just as much toi as Makar (5.33 vs Bouchards 5.19), ranking 63rd of 139 Dman, the top 55% of Dman on the PK with 5 minutes toi min in xGA/60.
Overall
We are currently witnessing a Bobby Orr type season. I wonder how many Dman have ever been 100% in OFF + DEF + Production and 98% QoC. Its only 5 games. But, now, it's Bouchard's Norris trophy to lose... a trophy that shouldn't have a conversation until game 20.
Evan Bouchard.
